Not Sure If I replied to this thread, If I did, oh well…

My Name is George, and I’m an Alcoholic… Oops wrong place… :D

Seriously I’m not an Alcoholic, and a very modest drinker….

I’m 20 years old, maybe the youngest member of FT? I’m a college student, seems like I've been spending more time here, than at College… Hehe…

I live in Jersey City, NJ right across the Hudson River from NYC….

So what else do you want to know about me?

Go ahead and Ask...

Pleased to meet you, ewrfox.

There are quite a number of FlyerTalk members who are younger than you. Some are as young as 12 years of age, to my knowledge.

Travel (and FlyerTalk in particular) is a great hobby in which to get involved. One can only benefit, as there are places to see, people to meet, things to do and knowledge to gain. It also keeps one out of trouble — usually, anyway...

It was my love for aviation that drew me to this site, along with a trip to South Asia… I needed some advice, and I found FT members to be very helpful planning my trip… Though I’m not as active in other FT Forums as Omni, but I do peek in every now and then.. Hehe :D

As I am approaching 2000 posts, almost 4 years on this board, I figure that it might be time to introduce myself. I'am a 38 years old male born in the South of France, I have been living in the Bay area for almost 14 years. I love the Bay Area and I'm proud of calling this place home. I grew up with the aviation bug. My dad is a pilot, he works for Airbus industries and will retire in less than a month. He strapped me in an airplane seat when I was 5 and showed me the world from above (sometimes upside down as well !!). My sister is a flight attendant for Air France. I did not end up in the industry but travelling is my passion, my drug. Finding deals, planning trips, the experience of travelling, the perks, the comfort, the recognition as an elite flyer.. I love it.
I am a regional Manager for a retail company based in the Bay Area. We specialize in outdoor living. (www.smithandhawken.com). My territory is Northern California and Colorado. I'm married to a wonderful attorney (yes, they do exist) and I have two wonderful boys from a previous marriage. We love going to Maui where we own a timeshare. We go to Europe at least 3 times a year to see the family and discover new cities.
My favorite city in the world is Barcelona in Spain. I love the energy there and feel very comfortable with the culture and the lifestyle. Our goal is to retired there in 10 years. I became hooked on Flyertalk 4 years ago, by accident, just browsing. I was a lurker for a long time before I became a contributor. I am especially proud of having discovered a $25 a night mistake at the W Times Square in New york.. Hundreds of rooms were booked after I related the information on this board.. what a day !!!
I love reading trip reports, the United forum, the Starwood forum (even though I am becoming less and less impressed with Starwood) and of course OMNI and the community board.
I have met some wonderful flyertalkers around the world (Bangkok, Firenze, Barcelona, London and of course San Francisco). Look forward to more..

I am me

Excuse me, could you please tell me how to get to the introduction page? Oh it's here? Ok then. (If I'm wrong, please let me know.)

Hello all! I've been directed to the best little community on the web by one of your regulars--techgirl . So here I am!

I'm LRocksCan or Roxx, Rocksie, Lester or what have you. I live in a nice little city in Southwestern Ontario in between the two Great Lakes-Erie and Huron. I don't fly much (except to go visit tg in Dallas) but am very opinionated (OMNI anyone?) and like to chat with others. I work in Marketing/Communications for a law firm but am looking for something else that actually allows me to, you know, work in M/C. That's hard to find outside of the big T-O. Oh and I'm almost 30, am not married and have no little rug rats to chase after.

So that's me, in a nutshell, and if you want to know more, please feel free to ask. Otherwise I'll be over in the corner reading the user's manual in order to figure out how to understand this place. Anyone interested in providing afterschool tutorials is more than welcome to join me.

Hi!

MuAT Apr 10, 2005 1:06 am

Student here, fly to go home or to programs and stuff. Yay! :)

I never made an introduction... figured I may.

I'm 25/m college student (don't ask.. I didn't go after HS i'll leave it at that) who discovered the joys of international travel at the age of 22 and hasn't stopped since. Been to 13 countries on 4 continents in the past 3 years alone, inc. returning to a couple of them.

born in Wilkes Barre, PA, lived in Staten Island till I was 12, job transfer took my dad from NYC to SFO (Marin County specifically which I hate and i'll also leave it at that) now currently a 4th year at the Univ of California San Diego.

I've had frequent flyer accounts since I was 12 or so, flying back/forth from NYC-SFO a few times a year. Never discovered the joys of int'l travel until I was 22 and the post-9/11 travel firesales that were happening at the time. Been to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong/Macao/China, South Korea, England, Mexico (city), Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands, Belgium, China, all in that order :) In just 3 short years.

Use FT to discover what elite status can do. Now an AS MVP with over 150k banked in about 4 years. Got a tip from an FT'r who told me about the CO award "Intra Latin America" fare which got me from TIJuana, Mex to Buenos Aires for 20k CO OnePass miles. Wow! What a deal! Now from my CO CC, I have another 20k and plan on adding Venezuela and Colombia to the list of countries I have visited. Used FT to find a few good deals to AMS, and LON, paying no more than $350 for those trips. Learned how to play the bump system to receive a $300 ECV and a WBC seat from DTW-AMS. Now booking a few MRs on real cheap SAN-TPA fares to qualify for MVP Gold to boost the account even further before I head to Asia again (hopefully) this summer.

Anyways it's late here but if anyone wants anymore info on anything, feel free to send me a PM.

I'm Flying_Kittens, and reading Flyer Talk has become a daily habit of mine.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. Flying grabbed my attention when we took a kindergarten field trip to LAX and were escorted aboard a brand new Pan Am 747. I was entranced by the spiral staircase, the groovy lounge and the concept that this big thing could take me anywhere in the world. I wanted to be the glamourous stewardesses in their go-go boots.

Recently, when I was going through some of the stuff in my mom's garage, I ran across something I wrote in elementary school about what I wanted to be when I grew up: 1) lawyer, 2) detective, 3) jet-setter. Some of my happiest teenage times were spent flying alone up to Oakland or back to Washington DC to visit relatives.

I used to travel moderately for work. I am now self-employed, so ~95% of my travel is for leisure now. I've lived in Portland for a number of years, but am getting increasingly intolerant of the climate. Eventually, I'd like to move to the US South, probably Raleigh-Durham.

Most of my travel is domestic, but last year I went to Tuscany and stayed in a villa. Next year, I plan to visit Thailand.

I hope to meet some FT'ers sometime, somewhere...

I am 16 :-)

I am into my second year of being 39, and I live in San Francisco with my partner of 9 years. We got hooked on elite status when we bought J tickets on CP from SFO-YVR-HKG-NRT-YVR-SFO. The service was fantastic and it really opened my eyes to the idea of paying up for good service. Sadly, I think that is a thing of the past, at least on US domestic carriers. :(

I hit 1MM on AA last year, a lot from flying. I am finding the second MM is going faster because of the 100% bonus the last couple of years as a PLT.

We own a condo in YVR and used to go up there nearly monthly. Unfortunately, SFO-YVR fares have indeed risen substantially, especially during summer/cruise months, so we have been taking fewer, longer trips in the last two years.

I develop software and partner sells real estate.

Cheers!

I just joined, but I thought that I would be polite and introduce myself

my name is zach, I am an international sales manager, I am 38 and I have been flying quite a bit for 16 years. I average about 200 legs a year, maybe closer to 250, about 140 nights a year on the road. for 3 years I did about 700K miles a year, but that was my most crazy time.

I have traveled in >65 countries, done business with >90, lived in 5 and had people report to me from 20.

I am now based out of a suburb of NY, but in recent years I have lived in Israel, india, and germany. I have a very patient wife and a 3 year old son, both of whom have great collections of clothing from around the world.

Andrius May 29, 2005 5:40 am

My name is Andrius, I am 35 at the time of the last edit, male, married, two daughters ;)

I was born in Lithuania and I spent the past 11 years in UK working for a major media company, first as editorial staff and now as a manager in our very international operation.

Through business and leisure travel, I fly perhaps about 70,000 miles per year, although part of it is on airlines which are yet to discover meaningful FF programs.

I am not particularly knowledgeable about aircraft, although I can tell most of the makes apart. I get a massive thrill out of take-offs and landings; I like strange cities, high-rise hotels and top-floor bars with views of metropolis lights at night.

My favourite airport in the world is Osaka Kansai; partly because this is where I arrived when I first travelled to Japan.

I also have a thing about guidebooks: buy at least a couple for every destination I travel to. When I find the time, I write reviews on Amazon.com.

My job is often highly stressful and sometimes very, very lonely. Exiting an airport in a strange land, getting a taxi and going to the welcoming warmth and lights of a large hotel is a dose of medication which safely keeps me on this side of sanity.

wanderlust_jules Jun 5, 2005 3:03 pm

Hi FTers,

My name is Julie, and as my handle might imply, I'm a wanderluster. I'm a freelance Art Director in advertising so in between 'gigs' I travel. I maintain my flying status enitrely on leisure travel and bouncing between home bases on the left and right coasts. Other than accumulating FF miles, I collect stamps in my passport.

As a true Gen-Xer, I was born on an airplane. I was always that kid up front flying solo playing go-fish with the FAs on my way to spend springbreak, summer, christmas, etc with parent/grandparents. Too bad they didn't have FF programs then, I would have hit the 1MM by the time I hit my teens. (Does anyone remember Republic airlines in the 70s? Also known as 'big-chickie' airline?).

My curiousity for other countries and 12+ hour flights began after high school when I went to Hong Kong and Japan. Before college I backpacked around Europe for a bit, made some smaller trips during college and when I graduated I was so poor my family had to sponsor the flights home for awhile. Now I travel.... a lot and whenever I can. Wherever I go I'm told that I'm 'cool for an American' so I guess that's a good thing. And oddly enough I prefer to go solo because that seems to be when I get free upgrades.

All kidding aside, I was a lurker on this board for awhile before I began to post (which was recently) and I've learned so much that now I can really maximize my travel/money/miles. Logging into FT has become as compulsive as checking my email and I find something useful everytime.

So thanks FT and be seeing you in the posts.
