Five FTers I'd like to meet are all based in Hawai'i: (not to leave anyone else out of course, seeing how you all visit Hawai'i regardless)

  • FlyinHawaiian (he's still a local boy)

  • LavaRock7

And most of all Socrates
And the mods of the US and DL forums ( I know that is more than 5)

And there is no way it is just five. I can name about 20 more (but I won't)

I am simply staggered. I am so touched by the kind words of Sarah West that I am quite - and uncharacteristically speechless. This was after I had picked myself off the floor at being on Mr Stimpy's dance card. As both of you are not lightweight intellectually, I am flattered.

I am going to be an absolute coward and say that there is only one reason that I am not publishing a list is quite simply that 5 is utterly unrealistic. 55 would be nearer the mark. There are few people who post here who one would not care to meet, and who knows? Professionally perhaps I already have.

Seriously, whenever one does this list one either forgets someone or leaves out someone unintentionally - and people can be perhaps a little hurt by that. However, I am going to make a list of those who have become very special - and of course they are all the BA Forum regulars. One of them Gaza stands out for no other reason than I have a little insight into what he has been through and come through.

Outside the regular suspects over at BA I am fascinated by and would love to meet

Sandiego1K - as she has touched the heart of two people that I love and that speaks realms in my book.

Hunki - as he posted lovely things to me whilst his wife slept!

Stimpy - as he now has me intrigued

Sarah West - as she has my utter admiration. I'm a fighter and so is she.

JohnNYC - as I like sparky people.

SuperSlug - if he is still out there. Again I have heard very goodthings.

BigLar - who sounds as though he has a heart as big as himself.

and finally

Mr Randy. To you Dear Sir we all owe a debt of gratitude that we are none of us really able to pay. However, if the meeting of minds, if people speaking to and appreciating each other, and if sheer pleasure is payment enough pray accept this. I speak for myslef alone, but I am sure that I am not alone in wishing you great joy in your life for all the joy that you have allowed us to share with each other.

So - Chaos, Confusion, and Dissent - my work here is done!!

With all the new members coming aboard there are too many new people I want to meet so I won't list them here.

Ess: I believe Sherrie from the Bay area is Letiole who I met four years ago when she, her husband and son came to NYC. Wonderful lady and wonderful family.

Slippahs... if there is another gathering in Hawaii it could be called the PIP *3*:

#2 was held last November with about 30? people showing up.

The first and biggest (and one of the most special weekend for me-ow IMHO) was the ORIGINAL PIP, NOvember 1999. (whose five year anniversary I believe is coming up. )

One place to meet a lot of FLyertalkers it appears is the Freddies. Last year there were over 100 FLyertalkers. I met many and two in particular, gleff and Spiff, I would like to meet again under less chaotic conditions to talk about stuff and life and other things.

Catman -- Hope to meet over dinner in NYC in early Nov
Spiff -- The oracle of Safety/Security, and a true rocket scientist.
Channa -- So I could possibly absorb 1% of his knowledge.
Doc -- Also the knowledge absorbtion thing.
Randy -- I like meeting visionaries.

Argh. Five just ain't going to cut it anymore ...

Now that I'm a mod over in the Travel Safety/Security forum I'd love to meet my fellow mods. And seriously, some of the TSA folks who are sometimes unfortunately dumped on for the gaffs of their higher-ups.

Looking forward to meeting you!

With so many Flyertalkers to meet if you meet one a day you still won't get through the entire membership in your lifetime!

Finally, after 6-1/2 years, we had an opportunity in November to meet the mysterious baoab. She is every bit as delightful in real life as she is on line.

I'm reminded of a quote attributed to Groucho Marx, who stated, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member."

Dedehans, I moved, I'm closer to US1 now, not A1A... I kinda miss the beach, but do love the new house.

We live about 30 miles apart and we'll probably meet someplace like Tel Aviv... how funny is that?
