Catman, any leads or estimates on the per-head cost for the dinner and by when you're going to want the money?

BillMorrow: Does that mean my favorite airline is now US? SFO-LGA is $282 including taxes. (UA wants $493 for SFO-LGA.)

Catman! ... I don't see my name (or Nancy's) on either the confirmed or maybe list. You can go ahead and put us on the confirmed list.

Sorry Beckles...that was my fault. Catman did give me your names some time ago for the confirmed list, and I just forgot to include them on the web listing.

Can you ever forgive me?

pitflyer - To answer your question I'm TRYING HARD to have the dinner at the Do to NOT exceed $50 a person (which is no easy job for a large group contract in my NYC!) I've got a nice place lined up that has good food and would work fine, but we've hit it's capacity already. The catch-22 is that most of the larger places want MORE money. Anywhere from $70 to $125 a person. I was trying to keep the price down so more folks could come, but the catch-22 is that now that more folks want to come we would need a bigger place.

I'm looking into a few more places and within 2 weeks I have to decide if I just cap it where it is, or go for the larger but more costly place.

Of course all those who see their names on the CONFIRMED list at the web site are in for sure, and if I have to do a WAITLIST I'll take names that were on the Maybe list IN ORDER of their interest post or email to me.

To those on the Trying Hard list: please contact me as soon as you know for sure you want to come, but please be patient and DON'T BOOK ANYTHING until I have a decision if we can accomodate more and can get back to you and confirm your RSVP request.

I'm planning on payment due (when its set) about 30 days prior to the Do.

WOW! Now I know what the airlines have to go through with capacity control, overbooking and waitlists!!!

All that really matters is that everyone who wants to come is able to come. Even if that means having a less snazzy dinner. We can all go out and have wonderful food in our home cities but the real goal here is to build community and make sure that everyone is included.

The party in Long Beach was way too crowded and I didn't even get any food (except for the dessert), but it was a blast!

Absolutely true insofar as I'm concerned!

Catman, it's The Catman Do Trois, and like just like the previous 2, it's your party and I support whatever you decide that best represents who you are, carrying on the fine tradition of this special night with your many old and new friends!

If that means an high priced dinner at Ruth's Chris, or a bag full of chestnuts from a street vendor...it's your call buddy and I support whatever you decide!

Catman,
Maybe we can continue the Brooklyn tour at Nathan's in Coney Island on Saturday night. We'll take the subway!

I'm heading down for the people, not the cuisine.

We can have it in a giant McDonald's for all I care.

(So long as I get the Happy Meal toys to bring home to the kids)

The most important thing is that everyone who wants to come (and pays their deposit of course ) can come. Personally I'm not too concerned about the price, but I'm sure others are not in the same situation.

Have you considered having it at a hotel instead of a restraunt? I'm sure there's a hotel or two that could accomodate us in New York for dinner ...

United finally confirmed our cheapie tickets yesterday, 21,000 miles roundtrip, so please add two to the list for Saturday with a friend of mine Joh, who Rudi met at dinner on the weekend here. Looking forward to it, whether at Coney Island, or Macdonalds or Ruth's Chris.

I am glad to see Joh accompanying you Glen to New York - I learned, and was very pleased, how she (duch origin) was able to translate aussie-slang (and my swiss-german-english) into a very pleasant and funny communication last Saturday in Sydney.

Thanks Rudi. Perhaps dinner down around the United Nations Center might be applicable with so many 'nationalities' coming along?
