All I want to say is I think much less of ozstamps now after reviewing his postings in this thread (I haven't read anything else at FT in the last 18 hours). I'll leave it at that, my basic opinion.

I'm also disappointed by the move to start IP logging and tracking by WebFlyer, but I respect it and understand the reasons behind it.

I have seen Oz; he was pushing a Paradise Hot Dog cart down Canal St towards the Quarter and I think his real name is Ignatius

I am very disappointed in this whole thread!!

First off, the title "A Direct Question for QuietLion" does not exactly denote humility and apologetic attitude.

An apology should be an apology without pointing fingers.

In my opinion, the apology will have no meaning until all the false alisias are identified by OZ and the other people on here who have played that game.

I have never met anyone from Flyertalk, but hope to in the future. But I do know my opinion has soured on a number of people here based on their behaviors.

Finally, Randy - I appreciate your posting your comments. IT is actually refreshing to see you post as "just one of us". I would love to see that more often.

First: What's all this got to do with the latest frequent flier mileage news?

Looks more like personal mudslinging to me.

A gentleman should know when enough's enough. Less would have been definitely more in this case.

Why not take some pointers from some of the cultures of the countries that many of us (including myself) like to visit:

Buddhism teaches that ego is a projection of the mind.
We all create our own lives (karma) through our actions.

One step up in Mahayana Buddhism we find:

All experienced phenomena are empty by nature. This means an ego that could be hurt by someone's words or actions does not exist.

Ozstamps, maybe it's time for some quiet reflection away from an internet connection.

ozstamps Dec 13, 2000 3:54 pm

Thanks for the comments above from Randy and dozens of others, good, bad and indifferent. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I have no problem with that. JeffS .. only an ozzie/ex-ozzie would understand your post - but thanks! And Freebird, Buddha will have no part in it, but I will be sitting on a tiny sheep farm for a week soon on a very remote island in the Falkland Islands for Christmas, so the possibility of a nearby Kinkos or cybercafe is not high!

I still stand by the final paragraph in the original post. As Kokonutz says, reformed smokers are mostly THE worst. So be it. We have now got the IP logging that he campaigned for. You all just received an email about it. So what? I hope it stays on FOREVER and I can't see why it does not. If my tombstone has carved upon it "Ozstamps bought us IP logging on FT" - so be it. It was here for a week in the Mileage God situation a few months ago, and did not affect Flyer Talk negatively at all if you recall. Here is the official version of why, and as can be seen, those with nothing to hide in future have nothing to fear:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum75/HTML/000016.html

The comments above I have read and can learn from in some cases. Some are just plain nonsense IMHO, but at least they are all (with one exception) from REAL flyertalkers who many have met and know in real life. The army of recent fake handles is missing from this thread, and will doubtless stay that way under IP logging, and that must be a large positive for Flyertalk. If IP logging works fine for THE largest companies in some fields, why not Flyertalk????

IP logging follows you pretty well EVERYWHERE these days, whether you know it or not. You can be pinpointed to a Kinko's computer on 317 Broadway NY in moments if someone wishes to do it. Just an example of a commonly used (by some here!) company like eBay, this is what you AGREE TO to even use that site to buy or sell. Right now there are 5 million lots for sale there and about 15 million bidders, Every sinlge one has agreed to have their IP address tracked. So what? Hasn't stopped them from becoming the largest in the world, by several MILES. I've never sold anything on eBay on any on-line Auction, but anyone who thinks they can do that under a bogus name and get away with it is kidding themselves:

Is it ever possible for me to comment on my behalf and not be connected with the Government of FlyerTalk?
Randy, I must respectfully disagree with this comment. Most members here associate you with FT, and vice versa. Like it or not, we associate you with FT. IF I were you, I would take that as a compliment. Unfortunately, you really should not expect us to determine if you are posting as Randy Petersen "Frequent Traveler", or Randy Petersen "Head Honcho" of Webflyer.

I think that Randy should post under two names, that way we can tell who he is posting as!!!!

Ozzie,

Now you will try to have us believe that your reprehensible behavior was a benefit to FT! How sad and pathetic.

Semantics aside, You have not yet apologized. In fact, you have made an accusation against QL and a false accusation against me.

I do not expect a reasonable response from you, I do not think you are capable of reasonable behavior. Your original post in this thread is proof of that.

You may be thinking that this will fade from our memories. Make no mistake about this fact: Your behavior will not fade from the memories of FT's. If my inbox is any indication, for every one FT'er standing up to you here, there are ten more silently agreeing.

You have no credibility here. Your actions today have made certain one thing, that will never change. Your "Contributions" have been, for the most part, at best borderline ethical. Some would say that most of your "Idea's" are scams.

Cut your losses and retreat. Take JaneJet and your other friends with you. Leave the travel talk to those of us with a sense of ethical behavior.

Edited to fix spelling error.

Randy,

Come on?! When you post here I for one take it is a "corporate opinion" and would be more than shocked if almost everyone else did not as well.

I am not out to bash you @ all...I had just hoped FT would have been firmer and your quick acceptance of Glen's "apology" seemed weak-handed for FT...that is all.

Just my opinion....
