great emailMan (to be on the safe side I recommend booking the Renaissance now, you can still cancel later).
No special (Senator) treatment expected for me, I will credit these flights to my UA-ff-account (goal: 1K again for 2000 as in 1998). But there is still hope: Gisela is Senator too!

bernie: you have full competence/authority to decide for me and Gisela what to do on Saturday and Sunday. Whatever you like to visit, where to drink/eat (preference: typical local places and some pre-carneval-athmosphere) and show us. Thank you very much.

Rudi I appreciate a lot that you trust in me that much, but I wouldn't want to decide without asking. This were just meant as suggestions so everyone would be able to make up his mind and we alltogether can decide on what to do with the group. I don't even know by now, if they team plays at home b/c season schedule isn't out yet.
So let's duscuss this again, when everyone will be decided.

Rudi, thanks for your message ! Bernie thanks for the phrases, I am looking forward to spending a whole weekend blundering through another language barrier.
As for carnival.. I have to admit to only having been to events a little further south before.. but still advise everyone to bring a big bag to hold all the free sweets!
Anyone stopping in London enroute - get in touch for some warm up exercises.

So is the Hockey game getting any takers?
Need to book either a midday Friday or midday Saturday arrival on the UA direct from ORD.

This sounds just like an excuse to have a party! So put me down as a possible as I'm sure I can rangle up some business somewhere during that timeframe. Possibly Mainz at the IBM plant there with a weekend off.

I'd like to try and attend too.
I've been in Dusseldorf recently and here is a review of the Hilton and Radisson/SAS hotels: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum81/HTML/001069.html
Please inculde me as a possible. If I'm home (or in Europe somewhere) at the time, I'll be there.

Ok, me & mrs 'toad are in! BA was more than happy to let me use my freebie tix. Saddest thing is that we'll likely have absolutely no chance to upgrade (even though flying on my birthday )
3 NOV BA 298 ORD-LHR
4 NOV BA 964 LHR-HAM (to see relatives of mrs 'toad)
10 NOV - train Bienenbuttel to DUS
10-12 NOV - Hilton Dusseldorf
12 NOV BA 937 DUS-LHR
12 NOV BA 297 LHR-ORD
To my German and Swiss-German speaking friends: sorry for the lack of umlauts. Just too much trouble with this American keyboard!
Cheers,
'toad
