Wonder if they do airport pickups. Uber starts Friday from what I just read. Both just in time for my arrival tomorrow afternoon.

I'm not aware of any discussion or indications that there are any restrictions at the airport, so I think you're probably OK.

Bus #7 is reasonably convenient from the airport to the Inlet Towers, though.

I was looking at the bus but skipped Inlet Tower this time. Decided to try out the Copper Whale it was about the same price and closer to the shuttle to Denali, going with that same van company that pissed me off last time but taking gold star class train back

Brought some layers and my Dutch Harbor hoodie. Nice and crisp for a dip in the Arctic.

Speaking of Bags. I only have 1 checked bag for ANC-BRW, so there will be room for more bags. Hoping one will have beer since its nearly impossible to get in BRW. Not that it allowed at the hotel

You can have alcohol in Utqiagvik. It is a "DAMP" town, meaning you can own and consume your own alcohol. It is NOT for sale and anyone caught buying or selling is subject to fines and jail time. BYOB is the rule. I have never had or heard of a room check by the staff at any hotel I stayed in in Utqiagvik. (Said it twice just to tick off Beckoa ) Just keep it low key and you should be fine.

Also, I am very happy to report that Uber and Lyft are up and running as of today. Not sure how well, but they have been recruiting drivers for some time now, and most likely Uber has drivers available from their earlier attempt to drive around Anchorage.^^

Rumors abound about introductory fares, but unfounded at this point. Perhaps someone else can confirm.

It is an old link but I think these rules still apply (bolding mine and I have never seen the laminated cards):

http://peninsulaclarion.com/stories/...l#.WUQfX-vytEY

The rules limit the amount of beer, wine and spirits they can bring in as airline baggage. Amounts exceeding those limits must be shipped through a distribution center, whose users must buy a $25 annual permit and pay a $10 shipment fee, plus a 3 percent local sales tax.

''We worked with Alaska Airlines to develop a way to keep alcohol from entering Barrow as baggage,'' said Barrow Mayor Jim Vorderstrasse. ''What they came up with is they won't ship more than the allowed amount as baggage. The rest has to be shipped as air cargo and go through the distribution center.''

Laminated cards have been distributed to remind passengers they cannot bring more than a liter of hard liquor, two liters of wine, and a gallon of beer into Barrow as baggage, said Dave Burris, Alaska Airlines' passenger service manager.

''We will not be searching any baggage, but if we see someone bringing a couple of cases of beer taped together or a case of liquor, we won't allow them to bring that on board the plane,'' Burris said."

I took Lyft from the airport (my uber app stated no service). No real rules set around the airport so they are picking up and dropping off wherever. My ride from Airport to downtown (4th & L) was 17.39 + tip
