No reason not to book now if you're booking with AS miles. AS's new change fee policy means you can cancel and redeposit your miles with no fee until 60 days prior to travel. Snag 'em while they're there!

We could arrange for the Spenard Reality Tour, where you could see hookers, houses of ill repute, porn shops, drunks, drugs and all the other fine things that neighborhood has to offer

Or that could just be the route to or from the airport.......

Either way you should join us for our next adventure into the wilds of Alaska

Each time I talk to an AAngel, I get the line above about we do not redeem on Pen Air.

Inbound to ANC 4th Sep was cancelled. Luckily, seat was still available so I did a new online booking, and "paid" the $0.00 on my credit card. New PNR created, but still waiting for the points to be deducted, and ticket to be issued.

Outbound to DUT 2nd Sep, was cancelled earlier today. Seat did not immediately re-appear. After a few hours of checking, was available again, so did new booking and paid $0.00 straight away. New PNR issued.
Then a short time ago, received eticket email, and can see the 12.5k miles have been deducted.

So, I may have a ticket to DUT finally, wait to see is the return eventuates. John.
Glad you got your seat to DUT secured and good luck on the return ^

For those canceling award saver seats, they do tend to return, however not immediately. Expect a lag of 30-60 minutes...I blame cookies of some sort.

Adventures indeed.

Glad to have you back.

And for those interested- the preliminary Alaska State Ferry schedule has twice monthly visits to DUT, however its a week after our return so probably won't work out (departs DUT on Saturdays). Granted this is a 'rough draft' and could change, but wouldn't count on it.

And checking saver space for DUT flights closer in, it does seem more tends to open up on emptier flights, however that's key. Ones very full don't.

There is still W1 on 9/4/14 AS3299 DUT-ANC.

Seats

So the saga booking through AA continued.
Sep 4 DUT-ANC opened up again, booked and paid at the same time, waited for ticket to issue.
Nothing happens. Seat re-appears as being available 12-18 hours later.
So, try to book it for a third time. Receive 3rd PNR.
This one issues within maybe an hour or two. I receive confirming email with ticket number, followed by the email checking that the points deduction is correct.

Interesting experience .
I wonder if any of our learned AK friends could advise how I call to get seats allocated. I do not want to ring another Executive Platinum AAngel after the repeated frustrating calls in the last few days where they were adamant they could not assist me with my Pen Air flight. Their solution was to sell me a seat for $429, or catch a ferry from Anchorage.

Oh, and jackal, may I kindly ask that you add my name to the interested list.
I am allegedly booked on Sep 2 AS3294 from ANC at 12:30.
Return Sep 4 AS3299 from DUT at 13:30.

If I am attending, I will probably interested in all activities. John.

Call up Alaska Airlines and ask for your Alaska PNR (give them your name and flight number for one of your flights and they can look it up). Then you can assign seats on AlaskaAir.com.

It's a self-edit wiki, but I'll go ahead and add your name to it. Anyone can add themselves as they book tickets to come up, though!

i have moved myself from "interested" to "likely" for the activities in ANC. can't make DUT work unfortunately. Mrs. PV_ is a maybe, as she is banking vacation time and holiday weekend credits for our next sojurn to NZ in late 2015.

for now i am hoping to arrive on AS149 from LAX on Friday night and depart on AS150 to LAX on Tuesday early AM. i haven't booked the flight yet, but probably will pretty soon.

I've booked a room at the ANC Sheraton over Labor Day weekend, but won't be able to commit to DUT until it gets a bit closer to that time.

Ugh. That's the first week of school for me I'm sure. I might see if I can swing Part III, though.

All they do is pass out the syllabus the first week, right?
