For anyone planning on booking Virgin Flexi fares as a couple, so as they can upgrade, if you do it via Amex in the next few days Amex adds a $200 credit to your Amex account if you sign up for their weekly offers.

Pretty decent saving!

Is the advance purchase rate for Parmelia Hilton of $154 for Friday night and Sunday night likely to get cheaper? The best flexible rate is $175 and this is where 2 Member for a Stay cards could come in handy.

That rate now is $116 so could be an alternative for Saturday night.

Unlikely to get less. $154 for a confirmed room looks good. Remember this is Perth

JohnK - Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have changed a previous flexible booking that I had made for Friday night for 299 AUD! The cost is even less if you book for 1 person, namely 145 AUD & 165 AUD. Though I'm not sure why a twin room should cost more for 2 persons compared to 1, considering no b/f is included. Oh well.

Jetstar has a nice sale on. Book by 5 Nov, depending on availability.

An AU friend booked for me AU$129 all in post-DO PER-MEL, so I wouldn't get gouged the $8.50 fee.

Color me Platinum. I booked MRY-PER/MEL-MRY back in July, so I may as well RSVP for my second OzFest. Hotel not booked yet, but I'll be there Fri 1pm to Tue 1pm.

And if any MEL peeps are available, I'm in town 28 May to 7 June.

Done: Platinum Definite you now are.
Hotels in PER are very expensive, especially mid week. Look at post 5

Added CCM link Who is flying the most BIS miles to OzFest ?

Thank you, Oh Mysterious Mwenenzi.

Officially, MRY-AU-MRY is a roundabout way, thanks to SQ.

As far as hotel, it will most likely be done on points. Just haven't decided where yet.

Beware of the noise from bands that could be playing the bars there. Happened to us a few years ago.

I did commit. I wish I had checked the rate for 1 person though. Oh well.

Still looking for any Member for a stay cards for these nights. I may join Hilton Premium Club again if I can somehow justify the $295 fee.

Sounds great and I shall buy you a few beers at dinner.

Now to see if I can get another member for a stay card.

Of course there is still every chance I may take up the Hilton premium Club membership by then.

I have done similar; Thanks JohnK for bringing it to my attention. I have cancelled my previous Friday-Monday Hilton booking at $299/nite to this much reduced flexible rate at an average of $195/ nite for 1 person Fri-Mon, and inserted "2 Guests - HHonors® Spouse Stays Free Benefit" in the comments so my +1 does not have to sleep in the streets This will save me >$300 so JohnK I owe you a beer or two. If I can find my "Member for a Stay card", I could save another $100 odd.

The best flexible rate for Hilton on Mon 27/5 is a horrendous $440 per nite and whilst I have a flexible $299 rate locked in, I might do a points stay on Mon nite at the nearby Holiday Inn Perth City Centre for 25K PC pts@:-)

Ill buy you one back.

Thanks for the heads-up ... I have changed my 170K four night award booking¹ to four separate flexible booking at varying rates (flexible). Thursday is still 50K points in lieu of $500+.

¹ since a month ago a four night revenue booking would have cost $1200+
