I would love to join as an Oz Fest newbie. Have been wanting to attend one for a few years now. I'm pretty sure will be able to pull off in 2013. So, please put me +1 as Gold!

Hi JenGal,

Great to have you on board.

Please plan well ahead with accommodation as Perth tends to be expensive these days.

Just booked flights

May 24 QF581 SYD-PER (Upgraded)
May 27 QF590/736 PER-ADL-SYD (JASA)

Will stay at 4P on Friday and Sunday nights (2 stay credits) and HI Saturday night on C&P. I'm horrified at perth hotel prices!

Jeff

We are also at 4pts for Fri - Sun nights. Using cash and pts for now. If something more interesting comes up that is good price we may switch.

My +1 and I have decided to go back to Cambodia &/or Thailand in conjunction w/ this DO. This is going to be fun.

It's highway robbery! So I've booked the following flexible reservations:

May 24 - Hilton
May 25,26 - Holiday Inn.

It is a good thing OzFest #10 isn't being held during the week, otherwise we would need to take out a bank loan to afford a hotel room. If the mining boom ends in WA, will hotel prices fall to more reasonable levels, I wonder?

I'm confirmed now. Using AA miles on Hawaiian SFO-HNL (two nights), Hawaiian HNL-SYD (1 night), then onto Perth with Qantas (3 nights at Holiday Inn on points). That's all on a single partner award ticket. Will probably fly home from SIN or HKG on Cathay.

The boom seems to be not quite so booming at the moment with the China slow down, so maybe time will tell!

For anyone booking, Amex has a promo for the next few days where they give you a $50 gift card.

We just booked 2 x one ways and will get $100 in cards.

https://amexnetwork.com.au/virginaustralia

Brings the cost down just a tad.

Glen

Looking for a quick getaway to one of Australia’s buzzing capital cities? This week, book a Virgin Australia flight worth $250 or more between 8 October and 12 October 2012, using your registered American Express card and you’ll get a $50 Virgin Australia gift voucher^. Qantas just opened up a business class seat LAX-SYD, so moved my booking over to that instead of Hawaiian into SYD. The lure of an actual sleeper seat won out (Hawaiian doesn't have those). Expert Flyer subscription paid off again.
