LH had a bunch of people at the party last night - so it would appear the A380 would be the LH flight from JFK to FRA - maybe they would even do the inaugural flight? Isn't the LH A380 to enter service in Oct?

If the main event starts in NYC on Wed and the A380 JFK to FRA is on Mon - then maybe the A380 would be used for a pre-flight (charter)?

Likely an LH 744 charter in FRA (LH has lots of those at FRA - and some not used).

Looks like our organizers have lots up their sleeves. And with all the right LH people at the party - many surprises to come.

LH A380 to enter service in June.

LH A380 will definitely not be used for a pre-flight charter (do you have any idea how much it would cost to just bring that bird over?)

Nobody said the charter would start in FRA. The way I understand it, the charter part starts in NYC. Yes, there are many LH744s, non of them stand used in FRA. If they are out of service, they are removed from an airport with rather high parking fees. The ones that you see "standing around" in FRA either go to maintenance same or next day, will fly somewhere same or next day, just need to be pulled to a gate or remote stand parking position.

I like the dates Kiwi Flyer suggested (Oct 25-29). I can celebrate my birthday (10/28) while we are on the trip.

Not to dictate dates since there're larger forces at work, but ditto the sentiment if that helps any.

The PHX touch is very exciting. I feel some Tempe sun in our futures.

Lufthansa, Phoenix, charter... All traces lead to this: http://www.atca.net/

And a quick question: can we make it JFK-SIN and back (somewhere in the US) in 48 hrs?

Nice catch! I had no idea LH had facilities in PHX. I still think a side trip to TUS to visit The Boneyard is in the works.
