Welcome all to the new 2010 DC Metro Area Happy Hour Thread!
Our Happy Hours aren't necessarily restricted to just Happy Hours - they can, and usually do, include lunch or dinner.
One handy tip: Do go to an ATM and carry cash with you - its always easier to settle a bill if everyone has cash - rather than having 10 credit cards on the table. And we can let the host/hostess (organizer) use a credit card if they prefer.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Our first event of the year will be an early dinner on January 1, 2010 with Baxter&Bessis'Mama and Mad4Miles, who have a long layover and want to escape IAD for a few hours. Even if you can't stay for dinner, feel free to stop by for a quick drink at the bar before dinner.
Date: January 1, 2010
Time: 5:00 p.m. (pre-dinner drinks from 4:30 pm or so)
Place: Willow Creek Farm, 42920 Broadlands Blvd., Broadlands, VA 20148; Phone: 571.209.1200
Attendees
---------------------------------------------------------------
We welcome all suggestions on locations, dates and times. We do make an effort to spread things out geographically, recognizing the dining diversity in the DC region. Generally, we try to have an event every four to six weeks.
Out-of-town visitors are welcome at all of our events and are encouraged to post to the thread when they'll be in the DC area. We often try to schedule Happy Hours for dates when we know that visitors will be in town.

It's definitely a go. Let me know if you'll be able to attend and I'll expand the reservation. Hope you're able to make it.

We're at the bar on the right, in the back.

mwg25 will be in DC the first weekend in February. I happen to be in town that weekend as well (shocking, I know), so would propose that we schedule a lunch or dinner for Saturday, February 6 or Sunday, February 7. I don't remember when the Super Bowl starts on Sunday, but would guess that if we have an early dinner, we'd be finished in time for everyone who wishes to watch the game.
Lunch is better for me on Saturday, and dinner is better for me on Sunday. Any one else have timing preferences?
I'd suggest something in DC (warning - DC meters now operate Saturday all day). Suggestions?

Saturday is definitely best for me (and I'll try to bring tjtenor4 along as well). Sounds good! Whatever place y'all come up with would be great - I will be in Fairfax, but have access to a car.

I'll be in DFW that weekend, so I won't be able to make it.

Restaurant Week Jan 2010
With gvdIAD unfortunately out of town, I went crazy and made a whole bunch of reservations for next week. Let me know if there's any interest out there - I know GoingAway already told me what she's in for, but I forgot
. They're all for "$$$" and "$$$$"-type places, and they're also all for 4 people.

Edit: keeping the ones I will actually make. I haven't canceled the others yet, so post if you're interested and I'll switch the reservation name over to you (I guess Acadiana was the only potential keeper).

I can probably do one or two of these, but won't know till tomorrow or Monday. I'm (supposed) to be in town all week, but may have to run to Boston one day....

The only one of these I am sure I am free for is for Acadiana on Thursday night, so put me down for that.
