CitiGold is Citi's premium banking relationship. To remain a Citigold client, maintain a minimum combined average monthly balance of $200,000 in eligible linked deposit, retirement and investment accounts. There is no monthly service fee for accounts in The Citigold Account Package.

Be aware that Citi Wealth Management will not allow any trading of non traditional stocks and ETFs. No leveraged ETFs, no inverse ETFs. Its brokerage service is similar to Chase YouInvest. It is just basic investment service.

1. Click HERE to read a separate thread discussing expiration of ThankYou Points when closing a Citigold account.

2. Citi has introduced Citi Priority with a minimum combined balance of $50K as of November 6, 2016. Those who were no longer qualified under the new Citigold requirement has been downgraded to Citi Priority. Discussion HERE.

I wonder if by chance we convert before this kicks in whether we will get grandfathered for prestige-reduced fee purposes

It looks like mortgages w citi don't qualify anymore. Isn't a $250k+ mortgage with citi currently counted as a Citigold qualifier ?

Retirement accounts, etc. The Citi site lets you link accounts from many financial institutions.

Perhaps you are referring to a private label version of Yodlee Moneycenter which allows you to see balances at other institutions from your Citi account? I cannot imagine any scenario in which Citi would allow you to qualify for a benefit based on accounts with their competitors, but I can understand why they would like you to tell them all about those relationships.

It has a FTF if you use it for purchases, but no one has reported any FTF for ATM cash withdrawals.

I've used it abroad and the rate is quite competitive when compared to Amex platinum and United club card that I used on the same trips

I'm assuming you mean for purchases? Or were you using the Fidelity card for cash withdrawals?

My apologies for missing the details: I've used the fidelity debit card abroad to take cash out of ATMs from my cash management account. No forex fees were charged and the rate was as good as my no fee credit cards that I used for purchases on the same day.

My experience as well. I often see Schwab and Cap1 360 raved over for int'l ATM use, but I don't understand why there's no love for Fidelity.

* Effective November 1, 2016, if you do not maintain a minimum combined average monthly balance of $200,000 in eligible deposits, retirement accounts, and investment balances, your Citigold Account Package will be converted to a different banking package and your accounts will be subject to the terms and conditions then in effect for that package. We will contact you prior to account conversion and send you complete information about the banking package to which your account will be converted.

** Effective November 1, 2016, the $30 monthly service fee will be eliminated for accounts in the Citigold Account Package

So there won't even be a $30/month fee anymore, you will have to have a minimum balance to have an account.
Whoa, that's quite the unannounced change. Used to be $100,000 and then a few years back they dropped CitiGold to $50,000. Now they are upping it to $200,000? Not really many benefits to speak of and keeping that amount on deposit with such low rates makes it a non-starter. I guess if true, I'll have to leave Citi. Been with them for 10+ years, shame that. Oh and I guess I'll lose my AA card which has no annual fee due to grandfathered Citigold benefit. Bummer.

May get a jump and open a Charles Schwab account now. They have no ATM fees abroad.

Wanted to bring attention to this on flyer talk (sorry if it's already posted somewhere else, if so, please place this post there).

I've done two of 4 investigations, now, they are basically copy and pasting the same message, say they will not honor the promotion.

Curious if anyone here is having the same issues, if so, what's your plan, trying to get feedback from others.

Thanks!

OMG, I'm beyond done with "......" bank. The incompetence is too much to deal with at this point. I'm going to write a full report of my summary to read later, however, out of my husband and mine's Citi Gold checking account 50k AA.

Letter on 4/4: Thank you for your inquiry on 04/04/2016 regarding your Checking account number ending in XXXX. We have completed our research and the results are as follows: Your account does qualify for Promotion 42ERCWNQU6, which offered 50,000 AA Miles. Citibank is eager to have these miles applied to your American Airlines AAdvantage account, however; will need your American Airlines AAdvantage account number to process your request. Please contact Citibank Online Services at 1-800-374-9700 at your earliest convenience to provide the AAdvantage account number.

4/10: Thank you for your inquiry on 04/10/2016 regarding your Checking account number ending in XXXX. We have completed our research and the results are as follows: You have met the terms and conditions for Promotion 42ERCWNQU6, so we are delighted to tell you that a credit of 50,000 AA Miles has been processed to your AAdvantage account number XX. It may take up to 10 days for the miles to reflect on your account.

4/26: Thank you for your inquiry on 04/24/2016 regarding your Checking account number ending in XXX. We have completed our research and the results are as follows: Recently, you contacted us regarding your account and whether your account qualified for an AAdvantage Miles promotional offer. We appreciate your patience while waiting for our response. Unfortunately, there was not an AAdvantage Miles promotion offered in conjunction with the opening of your account. While Citi does offer AAdvantage miles promotions at times, those offers are only available to the individual to whom the offer was addressed. We understand this is not the resolution you had anticipated.

Seriously, no wonder no one banks with this bank. They first say they are eager to put them in there, then "whoops" we need your AA number, then wait 10 days. Now, "whoops" there was no promo number attached to your account. However, you do see it was on the first two letters, right?

Just venting, hope all can sympathize with me. Now, they are taking it to the next level. Sigh, this is soooooo unacceptable...I'll give a full report once this is done.
Same issue for me. Signed up in November with the promotion code, received a confirmation message in December saying I was enrolled in the AA promotion, met all the requirements and the miles would post on 3/31. Wrote in the first week of April to say the miles hadn't been posted, agent confirmed it would take 2 weeks to post and they'd fix it immediately. April 15th, wrote in again to say it had been over 2 weeks, agent confirmed they needed to get the research department to review and it would take 10 more days. Citi then writes I am not eligible for the promotion but they "appreciate my business". Call in - they agree to look at this again. Same message the next day. Call in again and Citi says this issue is happening with many other accounts that were targeted and they need to look into it deeper. I wrote in again telling them they need to honor the promotion or I'm closing the account. Such an incredibly frustrating experience.

So I spoke to CitiGold about the changes and a letter will be forthcoming in June with the changes to the program if we are unable to keep $200k with Citi. It will be called Citi Priority and obviously benefits will differ. Citi Priority has been rolled out in other countries around the world - and a quick peek at the benefit proves underwhelming. The main benefit she mentioned on the phone was access to a private banker (which is of no use to me). Gonna sit tight til I receive the letter before deciding how to proceed. At least Citi is giving us 4-5 months notice before the switch. That is appreciated ^

I am anticipating receiving my 50k pts from the Citigold offer in a month, and so now I'm thinking about what to do with these points and my account. I have no planned travel ahead and would ideally like to shore up the points for future use.

It looks like my options are:
1) Close the account and use the points in 60 days
2) Downgrade the account to Citibank basic and retain points for 3 years.

Are there any other options? I would not like to use the points to purchase a gift card or anything similar that massively devalues the points.
