Went to Hot Pot Master yesterday as friends were craving hotpot and we didn't feel like venturing beyond across the street... We paid $400 for 3 pp and were really full from dinner. Quality was pretty good, the only other hotpot places I'd been to are the mass market Shabu-Shabu, or the high-end DingDingXiang. This is a good price point for the quality and environs. Tonnes of dip fixings for you to experiment. We sat next to the condiment island and one of my friends was enjoying all combinations of spices and sauces.

If it's on, I'm in. But also amenable to a date shift if moondog needs a few days to recover. I'll be around.
There's a lot of illness going around Beijing these days--I have just gotten over a horrible chest cold/cough that I got just after Christmas. A week of my life essentially moping around inside the apartment. Stay off mass transportation if you can, lots of stuff being passed around that way.

We probably can't make it next thursday: too many meetings/ evening events in the run up to CNY. Wife also down with the lurgy. We are around for CNY, and might be amenable if the date is pushed back.

My goal is to escape on the 23rd as well. For some reason, I really want to witness this water dragon arrival because I've never attended a dragon CNY, yet alone a water dragon. That having been said, I figure 12-15 hours is more than enough excitement for me. Therefore, I want to leave China, and I don't care where I go (hopefully some place warmer than China, but I am not picky).

Back in the Beij finally! I can still make it for the 12th - it'll actually be my last available evening in China as I fly off 13th late night for a business trip+CNY escape, not back till 1st.
I'm game for a mini-do if not everyone can make it, but pity I will miss out on the larger get-together closer to the new year.

I guess I skimmed the posts too fast and assumed that the date was going to change!
