Wow, for someone who had a problem with an ad hominem argument...

Correct me if I am wrong
Doesn't DC own the property and the airport?
I know that Arlington, VA surrounds DCA but I believe DCA is "in" DC
I would have told the officers: "To bad this is D.C."
You can not smoke in the bars as of Jan 2007 in Reagan National Airport
You can still smoke in VA bars - not DC (as of Jan 2007)
This leads me to believe than DC owns the airport and the land under it.

National Airport opened its doors on June 16, 1941. Though located in Virginia, much of the site had originally been underwater, in District of Columbia territory. A 1945 law established the airport as legally within Virginia but under the jurisdiction of Congress.

You are entirely incorrect. DCA is in VA. See posts #150 and #156.

I can't recall the last time I was offedend by anything. And I realize your original point would have been equally served by using someone from Iowa or Idaho or Bumblebee, Arizona. I just think stereotypes and generalizations tend to water down what is probably a decent point in the first place becasue there are so many examples that controvert them.

The cops should have told the FA to shut it and not waste their time and AA management should suspend the FA until she develops a thicker skin.
The foul language, while inappropriate, was not directed at anyone, and the resulting fiasco was way over the top. The OP already apologized to AA for their use of language, and AA should apologize to (and compensate) the customer for the bad judgment and behavior of their lunatic FA.

I didn't suggest we had to go back to hats & gloves..what's wrong with business casual? I travel internationally about 5 times a year (and no company is picking up the tab) and I manage to dress comfortably without dressing down. As I said we have lowered our standards to just about rock bottom. Its like when I see a woman in a nice suit or silk dress and you look down and she's wearing running shoes. There is no way you can convince me that she could not find a pair of comfortable flats to get her where she is going.
When I fly I wear sweatpants, a t-shirt and sneakers. OR I may at the MOST wear jeans and a button down shirt (if I'm trying to be fashionable). The only exception would be when I have to go right to a meeting off the plane.
I am 6'4" and 230lbs. Flying is not comfortable for me, actually it hurts. Flying is no longer special, and it has no panache. I am old enough to remember it being OK and common to smoke on planes. I remember when stewardesses were pretty young things who were there to make travelers day brighter and more comfortable. I remember when there was more legroom and width in planes, and when security was efficient and professional.
But if you are going to herd me into a Greyhound bus with wings, sell tickets for $99 to attract every nuclear family with two squealing kids, make me show up 2 hours early for my 4 hour flight, have some ill-tempered glorified waitress order me about, and have security pore over every item of clothing and baggage I posess, then I am going to everything *I* can to be comfortable.
If you make a comment about how I should dress up, I'll probably reply with "well you should learn how to dress properly too (looks head to toe) what were you thinking? Or was there a sale at Walmart on cheap clothes?" or I will just smile and say "sorry I have diarrhea and these were my only clean pants left" - anything to offend your sensibilities to the same degree that you offended me!

Well, after reading all the stuff on the forum and seeing that being harassed by FA's is not my exclusivity, I will go the farthest that I can. Starting tomorrow, I will upgrade myself to First class (3 class airplane) using my eVIP's and let's see if they have the balls to tell me to wear socks. I have mailed my letter, plus the customer service letter, on my company's letterhead to George Arpey with the name of the FA that harassed me...Let's see what they say about that. I will keep y'all posted.

BTW with loose feet clothing you tend to transpire less, and trust me a silk dress on a plane is not a great idea unless you have an iron in your hand luggage.
