There is no way you can convince me that she could not find a pair of comfortable flats to get her where she is going.
Are you serious?

When I fly I wear sweatpants, a t-shirt and sneakers. OR I may at the MOST wear jeans and a button down shirt (if I'm trying to be fashionable). The only exception would be when I have to go right to a meeting off the plane.

I am 6'4" and 230lbs. Flying is not comfortable for me, actually it hurts. Flying is no longer special, and it has no panache. I am old enough to remember it being OK and common to smoke on planes. I remember when stewardesses were pretty young things who were there to make travelers day brighter and more comfortable. I remember when there was more legroom and width in planes, and when security was efficient and professional.

But if you are going to herd me into a Greyhound bus with wings, sell tickets for $99 to attract every nuclear family with two squealing kids, make me show up 2 hours early for my 4 hour flight, have some ill-tempered glorified waitress order me about, and have security pore over every item of clothing and baggage I posess, then I am going to everything *I* can to be comfortable.

If you make a comment about how I should dress up, I'll probably reply with "well you should learn how to dress properly too (looks head to toe) what were you thinking? Or was there a sale at Walmart on cheap clothes?" or I will just smile and say "sorry I have diarrhea and these were my only clean pants left" - anything to offend your sensibilities to the same degree that you offended me!
