Photo ID
Since 'photo ID' seems to be a growing trend in identification... And even a Costco card suffices sometimes, i think i'm going to create my own photo ID, laminated etc. The organization will be 'Dirac Angestun Gesept' just for giggles.
It might even be accepted more often than a nexus card.

I think the poster was being sarcastic, at least I hope so. The fact is that there are so many "official" IDs floating around that the chance of spotting a fake is near zero. This is one area where I think DHS had a valid point, and that was with the Real ID initiative. While I think it was a horrible and frightening idea, it did point out the flaw in the system. Accepting something just because it is printed on a laminated card with a reflective security sticker on it doesn't make it any more valid. Any stand-alone manufactured card can be faked, no matter how complex. They only full proof ID is one that links back to a database that can be verified on the spot.

Pretty sure I understood that from the beginning.
I do remember once though arriving for a flight without an ID (it was in my pocket from the flight the night before) and the Delta agent went through what they would consider acceptable. This was before the current much stricter regulations. Anything with a government logo on it would be acceptable if I had anything else with a photo match. Do you have a voter registration card? Library card? Social Security Card? Yes, Yes, and Yes, but I don't carry them day to day.
Car registration? In the car. Get that and something with your picture and you will be OK. So that day I cleared security and flew from New York to Atlanta using a BJ's shopping card, and a registration for a Saab Convertible that was acceptable because it was issued by the State of Connecticut and had my name on it. That was a while ago, and I'm still loyal to that parking lot because I called and asked and they sent the bus driver back with my registration so I didn't have to go to the lot.

Other than providing a last line of defense against some fanatical nutcase who buys a ticket using his real name, not much. That is why I never understood the reliance on it by the TSA. I suspect it has much more to do with tracking of the population then any real security.

Yes and no. I am going to create a totally artifical ID... Correct photo, name, citizenship etc - but from a total fictional organization. It will 'look' official - these types of IDs have much in common - but it won't be real in any sense.
If it's ever accepted? It will be proof of how artificial the whole 'identify yourself' is.
Anyone want to be a card carrying member of THE WORLD ORDER OF AMBIGUITY? How about? THE SPANISH INQUISITION... (they'd never expect that)
//the world needs more humour and gentle craziness

Haven't tried it with TSA.

. I know of several groups that have "tested" TSA outside of there own "red teams" and the detection rate is a Zero, with the all time favorite being the Front Admiral (spoof of a rear admiral) Conch Republic Navy ID card that didn't get a second look. Yet real govt IDs get scrutinized, called fakes and the security clearances to get them is above what a 3 stripe gets.

Well this one won't get by an eagle eyed TDCer. That bottle is obviously over 3.4 ounces.

"Well give your ID card to the border guard
Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Of the United Federation of Planets
'Cause he won't speak English anyway"
