This is one area where I think DHS had a valid point, and that was with the Real ID initiative. While I think it was a horrible and frightening idea, it did point out the flaw in the system. Accepting something just because it is printed on a laminated card with a reflective security sticker on it doesn't make it any more valid. Any stand-alone manufactured card can be faked, no matter how complex. They only full proof ID is one that links back to a database that can be verified on the spot.
