Probably true, but I don't get the relevance.

Is groping someone through their clothes (which is, I agree, terrible) really the "most horrible thing" you can imagine? Your imagination needs to get some exercise.

What if, next week, the policy is that you have to escort every 5th passenger to a back room, have him strip naked and grope him without his clothes? What if this includes children?

What if, next month, you have to give a prostrate exam to every male passenger, regardless of age, out of an abundance of caution?

What if, in 2 years time, passengers are no longer allowed to be conscious on their flight, so you're required to administer anaesthesia to every passenger, despite knowing that 0.1% of them will die of an allergic reaction to it?

Somewhere between "what you signed up for", and "the most horrible thing you can imagine if you take a little longer to think about it", there is a line you won't cross. Someday you may be asked to cross that line.
Well its not the worst thing I can imagine.

Its getting pretty close to that line, actually I would say I'm standing on the very edge of that line.

I think I'm just going to go into the airforce and tell TSA to F off.

This is ridiculous.

^ The Air Force is an honorable alternative. So is telling the TSA to F off. I wish you well.

So, TSO_LAS, can you provide me with a heads up on what to expect when I fly Monday out of the First class line at the D gates?

I travel with a CPAP, distilled water for the CPAP and cannot remove my shoes due to a medical condition. I am patted down each time I fly. Will it now include a crotch grab?

I've posted this before, if you want to do something that really does mean something for aviation & transportation security, be a combat controller in Afghanistan.

That is making a difference.

or

And to really test your mettle, command an H53 at very high altitude (with absurd outside air temperature) while trying to hold a hover waiting for your passengers to repel off.

Can anyone shed some light on why ACLU did not file for an injunction to halt the Enhanced Pat Downs?

Recently, someone commented how much a statement could be made if a TSO spoke to the news media about why they are resigning. @:-)

In any case, best wishes! ^

Much more than an alternative; a HUGE step up.

But then so is.... well, pretty much anything.

The Islamist terrorists must be having a lot of good belly laughs nowadays. "Look at the Americans. One guy makes a dud bomb in his underwear, and now they are grabbing each other's crotches! Allah is such a wry joker!"

Does anyone know how the TSA (or U.S.) influences other country's SOPs? Are our rights the same when the country is implementing a rule that obviously originated in the US? What can we do? See below.

Example: I came out of JNB last night. A secondary at the gate had agents patting down every flier and searching every bag. It went smoothly and I generally* didn't mind anything that happened to me personally. However, three things bothered me. The first was the cavalier attitude. The perves were joking about the pat downs. The most common was "you get a free massage" (the greeting I got), the most offensive was "you might like it." The second was the inconsistency in which it was applied. I barely got searched, but the females were definitely getting searched open-handed for bra contraband. Thirdly, there was no private area or any information related to having that alternative.

Like I said, I didn't mind the procedure myself. However, I felt bad for the women who were getting their boobs and backside felt up in front of the entire plane full of people (a full 777LR's worth of folks cued at the gate). It was obvious the spectators were enjoying the show.

This kind of behavior (from security AND the spectators) was pathetic. IMO, no consent was given in any of these cases and, therefore, this was assault. Thoughts?

I'm wondering something else. What would happen if a female TSO was rubbing the boobs of a passenger and another passenger posted a video of it on YouTube? What if the passenger being searched was a minor? Hmmmm.

* -- My perve seemed to have a "back side of the knee fetish" which was kind of creepy.

I would suggest that the fellow with the shovel following the elephants during parades is a huge step up from TSA.

Just saying!

I have no wonder at all why in our Attention Deficit Democracy there is such toleration for the pitting of citizen against citizen.

I meant that our admins aren't nearly as imaginative as they should be.

^^

There is not a word or expression that I am able to come up with that is obscene, vulgar or filthy enough to describe what your current employer and your "comrades" at the checkpoint do to the flying public OR for that matter those we have elected to public office that allow TSA to continue down the path it is on.

There is no way to come close to describing the anger and disgust that I have for your employer and ESP your fellow smurfs

I salute you, the day you tell your employer this ^

(Please note in my salute I used all 5 fingers/thumb versus the 1 that I usually use when describing your employer and coworkers )
