I’m wondering about this as well. When booking awards with Hyatt and Hilton, my resort/destination fees are waived. But I see them listed as part of the pricing on Chase reservations.

When the resort fee is prepaid with the Chase Edit reservation, does the FD know it’s already paid so we aren’t double charged?
Also it seems sometimes the destination fee is added to the cost of the prepaid reservation and others it’s not. When it’s not, does that mean it’s waived or do we pay later when we’re there? Any experiences? TIA

With the award booking for HIlton and Hyatt, it is different. The resort fee was waived not because of status, but because it's an award booking. With Chase Travel, it is paid booking to the hotel even if you use points to pay Chase, so I am sure the hotel will still want their resort fee. Now Hyatt Globalist is a different story. I am thinking if the resort fee is paid at the hotel checkin time, and you tell the hotel you are Globalist, they may waive it. But if the resort fee is already paid to Chase Travel as part of the booking, I don't think the hotel will refund it to the card. This is a similar situation as MGM Gold at MGM hotels. MGM Gold also get to waive the resort fee at Vegas MGM hotels.

As for the 2nd question about whether FD knew the resort fee is prepaid, you can see my earlier posts on this. At Vegas, some hotels do not and will still charge you. I basically got charged double. But I read that had be mostly fixed now at least for some of the MGM hotels. I guess is YMMV depending on the hotel when you are going.

If you are prepaying, you are paying Chase Travel at a fixed cost. Then Chase pays the hotel (or rather the hotel charges Chase Travel) when you check out.

So if the hotel waives the resort fee, Chase would just get charged less but you are not going to get a refund from Chase.

Points earned when "The Edit" credit applies?

I am trying to get a definitive answer -- I am looking to book a ~$4000 hotel stay where I hope to take advantage of "The Edit" credit ($250). The terms and conditions are unambiguous and clear, quoting directly: "Any purchases that qualify for the $500 Credit for stays with The Edit will not earn points." So I forego 8x4000 points, or 32,000 points, which are worth at least $480, to get a $250 credit? This seems like a bit of a scam. I see references to posts here where people are saying that points would be earned on $3750 in this case, but has anyone actually seen this happen? I am only asking because the T&C are so clear on the point. Thanks in advance for whatever clarification you can provide.

No, you don’t lose everything. Their wording sucks. See here:

How long after booking does the $250 credit get applied?

For Amex FHR/THC it happened within a day of the charge posting.

Thanks, I missed that -- long thread that's hard to read start to finish and I wasn't able to find that with search.

It happens fairly quickly too, took at most 2 days for me.

Inasmuch as this is a recurring question I have created a Wikipost at the top of the thread to explain that the language in the terms is imprecise. Others who have stayed at The Edit properties should contribute useful information about the process (such as using UR points in combination with the credit) to the Wikipost.

I was able to charge $250 to my card and pay the remaining balance with UR at a rate of 2 cpp. Will update the Wiki.

Here is a data point for those looking for an Edit property that doesn't break the bank so you can take advantage of the $250 credit. I haven't seen Oceans Edge in Key West mentioned in this thread. Granted this property is located on Stock Island and is about a 15 minute free shuttle ride to Duval St, but you can get a 2 night stay there midweek in November for a little over $400 all in. Booked this a few days ago and the $250 credit showed up on my account the same day the pre paid charge posted. After factoring in the $250 credit, the $100 resort credit, and the free breakfast this seems like a pretty good deal.

thanks for the tip. i may use Edit in December there or the Perry Hotel. Perry is $535 for my dates and Ocean's Edge is $647, so leaning towards Perry but with the $100 off $600 Chase Travel offer, it's pretty close. The main difference in amenities seems to be that Ocean's Edge gives two hours of bicycle rental, paddle board or kayak rental for free and has 6 pools vs one at Perry. Parking costs are exactly the same and both have a shuttle to Duval.

I could not find the answer in search. Can you close CSR account after receiving $250 EDIT credit but before the actual stay? I can pay balance with a different card but I wonder what would happen to the prepaid EDIT booking?

Nothing happens to an existing booking.

The Edit credits are fairly new (from end of June for new cardholders and end of October for existing ones) so I don't think anyone has tried this yet.

If you cancel the CSR I don't see why that means your travel bookings would be canceled too. They should remain as is and usable for the dates booked.
