I find that hotel restaurants on average charge around twice the going rate for a meal, so if that's what you're using it for, that $100 is really only worth $50 in my mind.

If you were going to pay $100 for a meal there, the credit is worth $100. It all depends on what you were going to do regardless of the credit. Of course then you can’t “deduct” it from the room rate..

Different restaurants in the same city charge different prices for the same types of meals. This isn't unique to hotels. There are myriad reasons for the price differences, but prices are prices.

As a hotel guest, it's very convenient, it incurs no additional transportation costs or time spent in transit, and in most cases you can charge the meal to your room and earn reward points on the spend. Is that worth the cost? I guess that depends on the customer, but the price is the same regardless of whether I have an F&B credit, so if the credit is worth $100 and I choose to eat in the hotel, then I'm getting $100 worth of value.

Planning to have buffet breakfast at THE BUFFET in Bellagio. I read that the total cost for 2 is covered as part of EDIT hotels benefit. But the letter you get at reservation also says $30 per person for 2 everyday. That means only $60 would be credited ..I checked the buffet price is $54 ...anyone has any experience?

I stayed next door at Cosmopolitan and they also provided $60/day (2x$30 per day per room max) for breakfast. It works similar to the $100 dining credit expect breakfast will only work on a handful of restaurants within the hotel NOT the entire MGM restaurants list. We had breakfast at the Wicked spoon (buffet brunch inside Cosmopolitan), I think it was like $47 or $48 pp. We charged to room paying at the buffet kiosk and it also deducted $60 from the total bill immediately when I checked on my MGM app. Because we already used up the $100 dining credit before the first morning so we don't know how the $100 will work together with the $60 if we did not used it up already. I am thinking it may first use the $60 credit and the rest on the $100, so you will have left over of the $100 to use for next meal. But they could use up the $100 first and if that is the case, you will use very little of the $60 breakfast credit that day. You will have to use it immediately somewhere else or you will lose it. Breakfast restaurants normally don't open after 3pm.

well after conducting an extensive search of hotels in various cities of latin america and asia it seems like chase either raises the price or omits hotels that might offer any reasonable value. sadly this is not a feature of the card for those seeking outsized value.

SP03 Nov 18, 2025 5:37 am

It depends on what “outsized” value means.

Let’s say there is one $200 per night hotel on Chase Edit in most of the cities you would want to visit. You feel good about getting two almost free stays per year. That’s a $500 in return and “justifies” your AF.

For people who spend quite a bit on travel and can book through Chase Travel, that’s a 16% return if you then use these points to book Edit hotels. That opens up aspirational properties that people who would otherwise not be able to stay at but want to. There are also plenty of people who routinely stay at these properties. That’s basically a 16% cash back. That’s a pretty incredible “outsized” value.

I find that depends where, in the US that's mostly true, in Asia, a lot of the restaurants in good hotels are just good restaurants, that happen to be in hotels, and Europe is somewhere in between

It's worked for me a couple times now. Stacked with Edit once and standalone another time.

Made good use of this year's credit booking Cordis Auckland for 2 nights next month, only $300 before the credit. I needed exactly 2 nights so it worked out great.

I know it is supposed to happen but have people actually been receiving Elite nights and points for Edit stays without extra intervention and if so what was the timeframe post checkout? I see people whose reservations don't show having to get manual adjustment either by calling before to get the stay added or calling after. P2 finished an edit stay this weekend. She added a direct book for one night at the start of the trip ( and that posted two days ago.) still waiting on points/en for her Edit stay. I have an EDIT IHG reservation that I can't bring up on ihg website by searching for it either. If other folks are getting EN posted I'll wait things out another 1-2 weeks and save a long hold.

I think Chase is having interfacing issues with the hotels. So you have to make sure they have your numbers.

If your doesn’t show up on your account after booking, waiting isn’t going to fix it. Just contact them to add the booking. Then it should show up instantly.

So I just had a late year trip to BKK come up, thought about using my Chase points, and submitting the receipt to my business and using a Marriott property.

This is how broken the system is:
Through Chase the St. Regis Bangkok is $11,180 per night
Through Marriott Direct it is: $452 per night
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...33ffce7c0b.png
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c8dbec9de9.png

I also was looking at vacations the end of February beginning of March 2026, and 3 different destinations not one of the options for a 5 night stay were within 25% and all but two were more than 40% more to book through Chase. This Edit Program is a scam.

OK - but did that Marriott rate come with breakfast for two?
