THIS THREAD IS NOW ARCHIVED.
PLEASE CONTINUE THE DISCUSSION HERE: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/2031752-chase-ink-business-preferred-2021-onward.html

================================================== ==================================
  • 100,000 Chase UR points after $15K spend in 3 months, with $95 annual fee (not waived the first year)

Additionally: For those who may be automatically excluded due to 5/24, the in-branch Business Rep can submit the application by Mail on your behalf (this avoids the application going through the computer check that would automatically exclude those who are already at 5/24.) First year's annual fee is not waived.

: Some members may have a referral link and would be very grateful if you would use it. See this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...ost-first.html

1) Should I apply using the link above or go to a nearby brick and mortar branch?
Sometimes there are better offers to be had in the branch (as referenced above). Some in-branch apps had/have the $95 AF waived 1st yr (ymmv). You can also have your banker check to see if you are pre-approved for this card (green screen on the banker's log in). However, it is likely simpler/easier to do a Chase business credit application Online as applying in-branch often requires providing documentation (proof of business, etc).

2) How do the rewards differ from other INK cards?
The bonus categories on this card are different than other cards in the INK family, notably, this card does NOT get a bonus at Office Supply stores, but DOES get the following:

3 Points per $1 on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases in the following categories each account anniversary year:

- Travel; including airfare, hotels, rental cars, train tickets, and taxis
- Shipping purchases
- Internet, cable and phone services
- Advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines

- 1 Point per $1 on all other purchases (with no limits on the number of points you can earn).

Also, notably, it follows the Sapphire Preferred personal card in offering a bonus when using points to book travel using the Ultimate Rewards web site: Points are worth 25% more when you redeem for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. For example, 80,000 points are worth $1,000 towards travel.*

See discussion on using the UR portal, here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase...ts-2017-a.html
3) What are the insurance and other benefits provided by this card?
The Benefits Guide is here: https://www.chasebenefits.com/inkpreferred
4) Can I product change from a different INK Card?
Since this card is newly released, options may change in the future, but, at this time, Chase is not permitting product change to Ink Preferred at this time (reported on 11/23/16).
See our ongoing discussion here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase...16-onward.html

Wanted to share my recent application/approval experience:

Came under 5/24 this month, applied about two weeks after the official date that I became 4/24 had passed.

Applied online, received the 7-10 days notified by mail notice. Called chase to be advised of status, they said denied for too many open accounts. I asked which they were, turned out one was an AU on my girlfriend's card, all I had to say was "I am not financially responsible for that account," and we moved on. I asked them to reconsider. The lending specialist resubmitted my application seeking approval from a senior lending specialist and said I would be notified by email in 24-48hrs.

72hrs later having heard nothing, I called again, they said they needed additional documentation proving: 1.) Proof of business name and filing of that name (that it exists), 2.) Proof that I live at address provided on the application (I had just moved and all my other chase accounts are tied to another address, so I suspect this complicated things), 3.) Proof that the business operates out of that new address (I provided a check made out to the business).

I brought these documents to a chase branch to expedite the process. Checked in with the banker two business days after I dropped off the docs, he said I was denied...so I was very confused. I called and they said the application was pending (Not denied), had a helpful rep who basically ran it across the finish line and was able to tell me that I was approved right then and there over the phone. Was able to get it sent out priority, got it in two business days.

Some stats:
This is my 1st chase business card
This is my 4th open chase card
This is my 3rd open business card
This is my 3rd application for this card (other two denied for being at or above 5/24)
This is my 10th currently open card (7 personal, 3 business)
Credit line is 5k

My apologies if this has been discussed, but I didn't notice it yet. I am currently live outside the US, would the cell phone coverage also work for my international cell phones if I pay my bills with them? Or does this only apply to US carriers?

Hey. Yesterday a Chase personal banker told me that the current 80K sign up bonus is ending end of Nov and might go to 50K or 60K? Could that be true? I would rather apply now if it is.

Could that be true? Sure, it could. Or the person who told you this could be a clueless idiot. No way to know which.

Went under 5/24 in either August or Sept. Used own referral link to apply on Friday. Got the 30 days screen.
Have Ink Plus for 3 years and Ink Cash for 4 years. Previous UA and Marriott Biz cards a couple times. A few existing personal cards.

However new business card shows up online today Saturday with 12K CL despite there is no approval email yet. I am glad no need to make a call.

Based on DPs on this thread, I gather I would get my referral bonus. I hope this is an automatic process. Never have Chase referral bonus experience before but my experiences with the AMEX referral bonus posting are hit or miss on the SPG card.

BTW I used the email option to generate referral link - it only took 3 days to show up, including a weekend. The strange thing is, it never sends the email to the email address that is the same as the email address in my Chase profile even though I used it as one of the email addresses for the referral emails. All other email addresses received the referral emails. Tried this twice with same result.

You may have opted out of marketing emails from Chase, in which case you won't get referral emails people (or you) try to send you.

In a few days, if you go to the Ultimate Rewards site for the card you used to refer yourself, you should see "earnings on next statement" jump 20k points for the referral.

Not sure about that "in a few days" part....IIRC, the referral is only earned once the referee completes minimum spend (which in some cases might not be just a few days).

Whether the person you refer completes the minimum spend and gets the signup bonus has no bearing on your referral. You get the referral credit if they're approved. The 20k might not show up in "earnings on next statement" until their card is received and activated, though.

That is entirely possible. I guess I can look into the profile online and see if I have opted out marketing emails.

I accidentally used the referral link using my husband's name as recipient. However since there is no name appeared on the application form, I gather as long as the application went thru the link from the referral email, it should still be good... I do have another referral email sent to my name but a different email address to receive it but when applying I forgot to check the recipient's name to make sure using the exact email received because I was in a haste at the time.
Hope this do not cause any issue. Otherwise it would be a bit awkward to chase referral bonus for self-referral... .

My belief is, as long as the referred person is approved, the referree would get the bonus. How long it takes though, I have no idea.

This makes sense. I dont actually recall receiving any Congrats email from Chase on deferred approval, looking back the records I have. None.
Given the card already shows up online, I just sent an SM to ask for expedition of the card. Have some bills to pay soon so an expedition of the card would be much welcome.
EDIT: SM came back, the card was already marked for "rush delivery" and should arrive in 1 to 2 business days.
Let's hope the referral bonus shows up once I activate the card.

Applied online and received the “We’ll let you know by mail in 30 days”

Called the automated recon line 48 hours later and it said I was approved with a CL of $24,000.

Prior to this approval I had $45k in CLs with Chase spread over 4 personal cards.

Very excited about this 80k signup bonus!

I want to apply for my SO. I thought I should wait for the 100K bonus to come back. Then I realize I can refer him to get the 20K referral bonus which I guess somewhat the same as getting 100K bonus.

The question is, if we visit our local Chase branch, can we get the 100K signup bonus AND the 20K referral bonus?

No. The referral bonus would only be triggered when the applicant went thru either the twitter or the referral email link. If you read a few pages back you would know the referral email link takes longer to arrive than the twitter. Just how you can get that done at the branch? Common sense would give you the answer on your wishful thinking question. lol.

On top of that you have to go thru a Business Relation Manager at your local branch to put in a PAPER application for you in order to get the 100K. Else it would still be 80K and you would not have referral bonus either method. The BRM may or may not know about the difference between application submitted thru the system versus an old fashion PAPER application but there are people who learn it the Hard Way. So be warned.

Alright, thank you. Yeah, I had a feeling it won't work but this is FT after all ... we tend to find our way around!

I just had an interesting application experience that I'd yet to encounter.

Applied for the Ink Preferred today, had a couple Authorized User accounts removed from my credit report a few months ago so I should be at 4/24 at the moment.

Applied online, got the 30 day message.

Immediately called the "live rep" business card number and was run through a bunch of questions -- first about my identity. Then they put me on hold to review.

Then she came back and asked a bunch of questions about my business, none of which were particularly difficult seeing as how I had nothing to hide. I'm just a sole proprietor doing freelance writing with 4000-4500 in revenue each year, so it wasn't too complicated. Then she put me on hold again to review.

Then when she came back she said that was all the questions they had for me and it was going to go to a senior underwriter for review and I would receive my decision in "1-2 weeks" by mail.

That's not really a set of circumstances I've read before. I guess the fact that I wasn't denied right there was a good sign, since it looks like most people who call in are actually told if they're denied. But it also sounds like most people who call are actually told if they're approved, too. So, sort of a strange one to me.

I just called the automatic line and it still says 30 days on there, though I would guess that won't really have anything updated from the live call yet seeing as how it was literally like 5 minutes before.

Any guesses? I'll of course update once I hear anything!

EDIT: PS -- This is my first business account, so I can't log in to my online account over the next couple days to see if the new card shows up... grumblegrumble
