Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

This is a bit confusing... I got approved a few days ago (Nov. 1 to be exact) and got my card on the 4th, but when I go online and see my "Next payment due" it says Dec. 26th. That's almost 2 months worth of transactions on the first statement? Shouldn't my closing date be earlier than that?

Because we have supposedly seasoned FT members confusing payment due dates with statement closing dates:

Are you able to triple dip the annual travel credits by applying in mid-November?

Charge $300 December 2016
Charge $300 by December 2017
Charge $300 by early January

Cancel card mid January (within 60 days of the annual fee posting). Can't remember if the fee hits the first of the month or on the day of your anniversary.

That's messed up. But try it and find out. I'm sure there's lots of people who will do it.

I would call Chase to find out your exact statement closing date. Yours is one of the unique timing situations. With that due date, your statement date might be is likely:

November 30, which means you will have nearly all of November and December to receive your 2016 $300 travel credits.

- OR -

December 1, which means you only have November to receive your 2016 $300 travel credits.

Edit: Statement dates are always between the 1st and 28th of each month, which dawned on me after writing this post. I've corrected my errors.

This is probably possible. I was approved 10/28, AF hit 11/1. So presumably, if you were approved in November, your AF would hit 12/1.

Deadline to get AF refunded is now 30 days for all cards. But in theory I think it might work.

I wouldn't bank on just the feedback of the FT community. Simple enough to send Chase a SM to confirm the timeframe.

I apologize, looks like that came about in late October. I'll have to see about if they prorate the annual fee if you downgrade.

Told by a manager (memo issued on Oct 22), as well as a formal letter from Chase (on a Hyatt card).

All cards are now 30 days from fee is billed. Though they would "honor" previous given deadline via SM (on a Hyatt card). You would need to cancel thru a reply to that "honoring our commitment" SM in order to get the "previously promised" but dont hold your breadth on it. Read somewhere else that someone did just that and was still waiting for his promised refund after 2 billing cycles.

Further more, 2 AF reversals / refunds in 12 months will take you out of possible "preapproved" found at branch system. Again read it somewhere the person was told by his banker on this tidbit when he found all his previously "preapprived" cards disappeared.

Hi, I recently bought an Alaska Airlines gift card for 300 but did not get my travel credit reimbursed. It was posted November 5th and it was not posted as "Travel" since the points say; Rewards earned with this transaction:

How we calculate rewards + 1 Point per $1 on all other purchases

under the purchase. Is there anything I can do to get the travel credit such as calling Chase or will I have to buy another GC? It was an e-gift certificate if that matters. Thanks.

Welcome to Flyertalk. If you review the Wikipost at the top of the thread you will find that Alaska Airlines gift cards are known not to qualify. I believe this is because the transactions are processed using a separate merchant account with a different classification, rather than the airline's primary account. It won't hurt to call to ask, but be prepared to buy something else.

Thanks for clearing that up. Guess I'll purchase from an airline that actually works this time. lol
