Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Of the ones that you can get credit added to your account for (gift/egift card...) confirmed as travel which ones do you think has the highestconfirmed resell value?

I think airbnb is one (usually none for sale and at most 5% off I think)....any others?

I couldn't find this scenario covered:

I have 60k rewards worth $750 on my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. I want to use this to book a ticket for $1,250 or so. Can I use my Sapphire Preferred rewards + charge the $500 balance to my Sapphire Reserve and get the $300 travel credit?

First, you want to use the Combine Points feature to move those points from Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve. They are then worth $900.

Thanks, that's actually a brilliant strategy!

Interesting tidbit here regarding the upgrade in redemption value. If this is true, that's stellar. I had the impression is that the redemption value sticks where it was earned which is 1.25 in Preferred.

Nope. I earn 5% on Freedom quarterly categories, 1.5% on Freedom Unlimited on everyday... then transfer all the UR points to CSR to spend them LOL.

No. The value is determined by from WHICH UR account you use.

Since Chase let you combine points between UR accounts, naturally you want to move all your pts to CSR's UR account and do your travel purchase from that UR account to get the 1.5 value.

Certainly seems to be the intended plan from Chase. The 1.5x redemption rate for the CSR does raise the floor for UR point value, but I always try to view what I can get via transfers first. Got a much better deal for Andaz Fifth Ave in NY via Hyatt award redemption than via paying with points.

Almost without a doubt, transfer to partners generates value much higher than the "purchasing power" of the points themselves. While Hyatt and UA are the most obvious, KE is an often overlooked partner.

From what I have read so far, Delta egift is still working for $300 credit? TIA. DH just got approved for the card today so we will be in a hurry to to finish this credit. The online banking shows that the next payment due date is Jan. 1, 2017, so his December statement will be Dec. 1.

No. The grace period is not 30 days from statement close. More like 25 to 27 days.

As mentioned above, the online info on first cycle is woefully inaccurate. Please either SM or call to find out your statement date.

If I apply CSR and get approved instantly next Monday (11/07), what's the possible fist statement date? Will that be sometime in December 2016? If the first closing date is in January 2017, do I even get $300 travel credit for 2016?

Thanks for clarifying the confusion.

Yeah me too. I have yet to use UR points on travel as cash. I found that even with standard award on United (about 2x more points than Saver), it is still cheaper than CSP 1.25 rate. Now with 1.5 CSR rate, it would be a closer call as I will also earn miles if not using award points....

I think your first closing date would be in December, maybe even in November! My wife's CSR was approved in late September and her first closing date was middle of October.
