Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit
How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.
For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.
But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.
Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.
Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.
Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Has anyone bought a Hilton Gift Card and got the credit? I see it is an American Express gift card so not sure if that would somehow show up in some category besides travel?

Found a short Caribbean cruise in 2 weeks time that we could take to knock off 75% of the $300. Even though we would prefer stay home for the rest of the year...
Also I received INCONSISTENT info on when is the deadline for us to meet the spend. 2 different SM reps gave Dec 18 as deadline on 2 different cards (mine and husband's) but the phone rep said it was Nov 25 as the approval date was Aug 25. I am sure most of folks on this have met their spend on first month and dont even bother to find out the exact deadline... I am just curious that Chase usually gives an additional 10 to 14 days to account for mailing delay, not to mention the drastic difference between the SM rep's answer and the phone rep's answer. In any case we will operate by the phone rep's date. Dont want the hassle to argue with Chase based on the SM rep's info on a 100K bonus. I just hope the chip works on my card as it has given Card Malfunction errors multiple times.

The description of the $300 travel credit seems to say that you get it annually and that "annual" is from when you open the account until the end of the year and then each calendar year thereafter.
If so, then doesn't that mean that if you open an account now, that you could get the $300 benefit now and then again in 2017, even before your next annual fee is due?
A statement credit will automatically be applied to your account when your card is used for purchases in the travel category, up to $300 in statement credits annually ("annually" means the year beginning with your account open date through the first December statement date of that same year, and each 12 billing cycles starting after your December statement date through the following December statement date).

It is on CALENDAR year BEFORE your December Statement's closing date. The transaction must happened BEFORE that important date in order to be credited. Though I would be more careful to make sure the transaction POSTED Before the December Statement closing date - it is just a few days earlier, not a whole lot of difference but much safer approach. The last thing you want is that credit posted but is counted AGAINST your 2017 benefit! Just sayin.

The fine print said POSTED. The phone rep argued with me yesterday saying it was based on transaction. There you have it. Hence I said to operate by the POSTED concept.

Just got the last of my 300 dollars reimbursed.
They include a rental car bought through Chase UR portal that I later cancelled, but the credit was not clawed back.

I forget if anyone's mentioned this yet, but apparently the travel credit will show up in the UR portal before the charge posts. I'm not sure exactly what criteria triggers this, however. A Hertz preauth didn't show up in the UR portal, for instance (which makes sense since the final amount isn't known), while an Uber I took yesterday (but is still pending) did.
