$300 Annual Travel Credit
"Make the most of your trip with a $300 annual travel credit to use for baggage fees, Global Entry fees, seat upgrades, access to your preferred airport lounge and more. Simply use your card for these expenses and call us at 1-855-896-2222, and we will refund the charges after your flight."
Actual T&C language, as of 08.22.15:"Only the following types of non-ticket Net Purchases qualify for this offer: airline lounge day pass, or towards a yearly lounge membership of your choice; airline seat upgrades; airline baggage fees; in-flight internet/entertainment; in-flight meals; Global Entry fees."
As of 1/2/2015, Credit for these charges are based on TRANSACTION (purchase) date, not posting date. If you made an eligible purchase before the end of the year, even if it doesn't post until the following year, you can still receive credit for the previous year. See post #1268
DO NOT attempt to get all $300 in one transaction. Most CSRs will question what incidental charge would be so high. Instead, get multiple smaller gift cards which line up with fees that airline charges. Make sure that whatever amounts you choose, you have an explanation ready for each. For example, AA overweight baggage fee is $150. $50 is first checked bag for 2 ppl. $75 is in the range of upgrade fees, etc.
Please start a list of what charges have and have not been reimbursed.
Reimbursed:
F9 Award Fees $33.60
Admirals Lounge Meal $26
B6 Flight $96.20 x 2
Volaris Flight $82 x 4 (reimbursed for $300)
WN gift card $25
Seat upgrade to first- it was a bit of a challenge because they showed up as new tickets. I offered to have them look at another Chase card that had the original tickets, but the agent admitted, "$2xx.xx seems low for a round trip on United," and processed the refund.
Reimbursed for the $200 reactivation fee for expired AAdvantage miles. Oops... I mean I got reimbursed for $200 in AA seat upgrade fees
AY bag fees. Paid to AY in EUR, reimbursed in USD at amount shown on stmt.
AA seat upgrade fees. NOTE: these were oddball amounts, not even numbers.
Not Reimbursed:

Do we have data points about putting credit limit back up onto the Ritz card after
The AF is credited back? Does the AF go back on? Or
Does it go back in year two?
I'm asking because I'm considering closing up a chase account and would move the CL back to the ritz
Thanks

Cannot post to Wiki yet, so if some Good Samaritan wants to add the data point, that would be great.

I took advantage of the $300 travel benefit at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016. $600 altogether. I'm curious to know if this counts towards the minimum spend. I'm assuming it does but want to be sure as my 3 months is up soon.

So nowadays my Ritz card is my main card for restaurant spend: 2x Marriott miles + 10% annual bonus + 10% United transfer bonus = 2.42 United miles per dollar spent. No other credit card comes even close to that earning rate for United miles from restaurant spend (the next best would be the CSP at 2.00).

That's how I see it as well: when you're in the right range for the travel packages, 1 Marriott point = 1 airline mile. I plan on transferring to United so there's the 10% bonus too. And of course the 10% annual bonus as well.

2.24:1 is 2.24 Marriott/Ritz points gets you 1 UA no?
eg 112,000 Marriott Points = 50,000 United Airlines miles
CSP @ 2 per $ spend is more than double no?

My United strategy changed drastically when I finally used SQ KF to book united flights:
Citi Prestige+ Premier Combo 3x for travel, 2x for dining
Freedom = 5x rotating (transfer to SQ via Chase Ink)
Amex Evrdyday Pref = 4.5x for groceries, 3x for gas
United club card = now gets zero spend. As long as SQ puts my UA number on the award ticket I get premier boarding etc. I don't care re checked bags so no need for chase bag "benefit"
Non category spend =Fido 2%
I've used up my $300 ritz credit already but for award taxes I use ritz and prestige. All else being equal I use Ritz for award copay because of the travel insurance.
I've almost hit my $10k on ritz spend and that's going into the sock drawer.
Plus SQ has lower redemptions. Economy to Europe is 55k vs 60k on UA for RT. Not to mention cancellation/redeposit fee of $30 vs $300 for international flights.
On my last European award I got over 3 cents value per Krisflyer mile. The highest I've ever gotten for UA is 2.4c in economy for the same route.
I love the look of the ritz card. But I cannot get myself to spend a cent on it given the brutal return of Marriott points.

I've found the ritz card to be the absolute weakest points earning card that I have.

It's the same with my Amex Plat card. Use for perks but for rewards I'll be sticking with my Citi Foward card and SPG combo.

Yeah unless I'm using it for my minimum spend, $300 credit, or moments to look cool, it's staying in my wallet. The club level upgrades 3 times a year is worth the $95 net annual fee of the card for me.

I didn't realize that the gold status benefit was based on the account year (July to July in my case) as opposed to calendar year like the $300 travel credit, and as a result, my status dropped to Silver.
My spend is now over the $10k mark. Does anyone know if I have to wait till 2017 for Gold status (hotel stays aside) or if it gets upgraded after you meet the spend requirement?
Thanks all!

Do the free night certs post when the minimum spend is met (like the chase hyatt card) or when the statement closes?
