There is no further explanation.
Here is an Ink Plus offer:

https://creditcards.chase.com/ink-bu.../ink-plus-card

Here are the terms, the 24 month language would typically be in the first paragraph:

Ink Plus Offer Details:

Earn 60,000 Bonus Points
To qualify and receive your bonus, you must make Purchases totaling $5,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. ("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like charges such as travelers checks, foreign currency, and money orders, any checks that access your account, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your account. To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.

Earning Points
How you can earn points: You’ll earn points when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won’t count and won’t earn points: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. 1 point: You’ll earn 1 point for each $1 spent. 2 points: You’ll earn 2 points total for each $1 of the first $50,000 spent each account anniversary year on combined purchases in the following rewards categories: hotel accommodations (when purchased directly with the hotel); gas stations (one additional point on top of the 1 point per $1 earned on each purchase). You may see “2X” in marketing materials to refer to the 2 points total you earn for each dollar spent in these categories each account anniversary year. After $50,000 is spent on combined purchases in these categories each account anniversary year, you go back to earning 1 point for every dollar spent, with no maximum. 5 points: You’ll earn 5 points total for each $1 of the first $50,000 spent each account anniversary year on combined purchases in the following rewards categories: office supply stores; internet, cable, and phone services (four additional points on top of the 1 point per $1 earned on each purchase). You may see “5X” in marketing materials to refer to the 5 points total you earn for each dollar spent in these categories each account anniversary year. After $50,000 is spent on combined purchases in these categories each account anniversary year, you go back to earning 1 point for every dollar spent, with no maximum. We may offer you ways to earn bonus points through the program. You’ll find out more about the number of bonus points you can earn and any other terms at the time of the offer. How you can use your points: You can use your points to redeem for any available reward options, which include cash, gift cards, travel, and products or services made available through Ultimate Rewards or directly from third party merchants. Point expiration/losing points: Your points do not expire as long as your credit card account remains open, however, you will lose all your points if your account is closed for any reason. Rewards Categories: Merchants who accept Visa/MasterCard credit cards are assigned a merchant code, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa/MasterCard procedures based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Please note: We make every effort to include all relevant merchant codes in our rewards categories. However, even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won’t qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category. Purchases submitted by you, an authorized user, or the merchant through third-party payment accounts, mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology will not qualify in a rewards category if the technology is not set up to process the purchase in that rewards category. For more information about Chase rewards categories, see www.Chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQs. Rewards Program Agreement: We will mail you a Rewards Program Agreement containing additional rewards program terms once your account is established. If you become a Chase Online customer, your Rewards Program Agreement will be available online as well.
20% off Travel
Each point you redeem for travel booked through Ultimate Rewards is worth $.0125 (one and a quarter cents), which means that 100 points is worth $1.25 in redemption value. This is like getting a 20% discount on travel you get with points when compared to the cash price. For example, a $750 airline ticket will only cost you 60,000 points. You would need 75,000 points to get $750 in cash through Ultimate Rewards and 60,000 points is 20% less than 75,000. The cost of travel and comparison of the points price and cash price is based on the rates and fares available through the Ultimate Rewards website and travel center, and may not reflect all rates and fares that are available through other sales channels.
Purchase/Travel Protection
These benefits are available when you use your card. Restrictions, limitations and exclusions apply. Most benefits are underwritten by unaffiliated insurance companies who are solely responsible for the administration and claims. There are specific time limits and documentation requirements. Once your account is opened we will send you a Guide to Benefits, which includes a full explanation of coverages.
Worldwide Acceptance
Acceptance rates based on global, not domestic, data. Source: The Nilson Report Issue 1065, June 2015.
Employee Cards
If any of your employees are allowed to use your account, they will be authorized users and will have the same charging privileges as you unless you establish individual spending limits for them. You are responsible for any use of your account by you, an authorized user or anyone else that you permit to use your account. You are responsible for repaying all balances on your account. All correspondence, including statements and notifications, will be sent to you. By submitting this request to add a user to your account, you are agreeing the name and address provided are persons with which you have a relationship and are factual. If Chase determines the name and address provided are fraudulent, Chase has the right to close the account.

Yes. Perhaps you could wait for a couple of those new cards to age out of the 5/24. Of course, you'll need to abstain from other card apps while you wait.

I'll say though that other than that 10k checking account balance option applying in bank vs online appears to make no difference.
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. So could I just push some extra cash to my Chase checking say a week before I applied in branch and they'd be able to use the special form and what not? Or does it have to be at a 10k balance for a certain amount of time?

I'm still wondering if I should apply sooner than end of February when my last inquiry will be 91+ days ago, because I'm afraid if I apply end of Feb and lets say it goes to pending for a couple weeks and then early March 5/24 kicks in for Ink then maybe it'll end up being auto denied. Whereas if I apply really soon hopefully it would at least have a chance to process before March. Thoughts?

I read somewhere that CSP 50k ends March 1, but I can't remember where I read it.

Implementation of 5/24 rule is little sketchy. I was approved for more than 5 cards in last 12 months and i was still approved for CSP. My wife had 4 cards and she got a denial letter in the mail for CSP, called for reconsideration and no go for her.

Now i am not sure if I should apply for Ink Plus.

As discussed in the wiki, not all new/recent cards are counted for purposes of the 5/24 rule.

As discussed in the wiki, there are plenty of reasons (incl but not limited to maxed-out CL) an app may be denied. Even if a CSR claims 5/24 was the reason, that may actually have nothing to do with the denial.

Now i am not sure if I should apply for Ink Plus.
As noted in the wiki, Ink Plus is not subject to the 5/24 rule.

I applied anyway. I have a legitimate business, long banking relationship, we'll see what happens.

Do cards opened AND closed in the last 24 months count against the 5/24? Or only the remaining open ones?

Doesn't matter if they have been closed again, if they were opened in the last 24 months and they are on your credit bureau, they will count.

I assume the Amex Gold Business card doesn't count in the 5/24 (since I don't see it listed in any of my credit reports).

My 5th card just went over the 24 month period (29th Jan 2014). Does that mean, Ceteris Parabis, I should be ok to apply for CSP now? Only 4 within 24 months (discounting the Amex Gold Business card).

If that's the case, then spouse was auto-approved for a CSP as 6th card in 24 months. Granted, 4 of them were AU, but there was no issue with those evidently b/c had pre-screened offer on Chase and auto-approval.

Instead of assuming, you could read the wiki, which says explicitly that non-Chase business cards are not included in the 5/24 count.

Short-time lurker, first-time poster here.

Thanks to you all I have just learned that the Ink Plus is outside of the 5/24 rule, which is great news! Even though I don't (yet) have a business, also from you I have learned that I can use my SSN as my EIN for the Ink Plus application, which is even more great news!

Before I found that out, my plan was to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom on the same day (tomorrow), and then wait for 90 days and apply for the Ink Plus. My new plan now is to apply for first the CSP and then the CF on the same day with different incognito windows using a referral code from one of you here, as a way of giving back and thanking you for all the good advice you've dished out over the years.

Wish me luck!

Question trying to re-up on some bonuses to see if I am eligible. I applied for the United mileage plus card in Aug of 2014 for 50K and log into my United account to see it offered again. Am I eligible to get the bonus again with that card? Also the same with the Chase ink in March 2015?

Welcome to FlyerTalk, jalabi99.

While it's true that the Ink Plus is outside of the 5/24 rule at this point, it is strongly rumored that this is about to change in a month or two:

In that case, new plan! I am about to apply for the CSP now, then wait a couple of hours, before applying for both the Freedom and the Ink Plus simultaneously.

Update #1 (Feb 1 12:30 pm ET) I just applied for the CSP and the application screen showed the message: "Thank you for applying. Your application requires further review before making a decision...Our goal is notify you within 10 days; however in some circumstances it may take up to 30 days..."

Now sitting on pins and needles and wondering if I shouldn't just call the "Personal Reconsideration Line with a live rep" in an hour, or just wait it out for the 10 days. They may need verification of something. I'm so nervous!

Update #2 (Feb 1 1:30 pm ET) Just called the "General Application Status Line, automated" number and it said I'll hear back from them in 2 weeks; from the wiki ("Automated line responses stating they will notify you in 2 weeks often result in an approval") this may be a good thing. Fingers crossed!
