Did a round of apps for my husband 6 months ago. At that time did PRG, Barclay, Southwest and BA. Both Chase cards were denied, and recon said more than 5/24 blah blah blah. At that time, I hadn't done very many apps in his name, and some of the 5 were AU on mine. Even though I argued that, the answer was still no. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, and I do another round of apps for him. I was being pretty aggressive and did Amex HHonors and SPG, Citi HHonors, Barclay Arrival+, Discover, and decided to throw in a Southwest, but not holding out much hope. To my surprise, all were approved except Barclay (forgot to lower credit line before new app). Eight days later, did the Citi ATT Access to get a new IPhone for the new Discover promo, instant approval on that. Needless to say, I was pretty happy with the results...and then I see the BA 100k. I'm not ready for my next round, but was pretty confident that hubby wouldn't be approved with that many new cards in the last 2 weeks. Since he won't do another round for 6 months, decided to risk the hit just to see. Applied yesterday and it went to pending, called automated line this afternoon and get the approved, your card will be there in 7-10 days. I was shocked. For reference, His Experian, which Chase pulls here, shows 12 HP, 7 of which were in the last 2 weeks. Last month, Amex showed his FICO as 746, but the declined letter from Barclay showed it as 701. Time to start building it back for the next round, but for now, I am thrilled with the pile of miles and points.

Thanks for the advice. ^ After a 6 day wait, app status line is saying approved. So I'm a convert to the don't-call-unless-denied camp.

Full data point:

Co-brand biz app. (Actually a rare card, not even listed on the Chase website, you have to find it elsewhere. Any guesses?)
FAKO in low-mid 700s
9 new cc accounts in 2y (excluding non-Chase biz cards)
5 HP in 2y, 2 HP in 1y
Got 30 days message, waited it out and was approved

I made a mistake , I found his statement for Dec, 2012 where he received the 50k miles.
He closed the card in Oct. 2013

My wife was instantly approved for the UA Explorer card with 13+ hard pulls and even more authorized user accounts in 24 months; 7 in 6 months.

I would go for it. And do a second Chase co brand card the same day to consolidate pulls. Fairmont, Hyatt, BA, SW?

And the United card offers an additional 5,000 miles to add an authorized user. I used to always add my wife or vice versa. But in the future my dog and cat will be getting AU cards so as to not mess with Chase's "new account" counting.

He received bonus back in Dec 2012 for the first card. ETA correction of date.
He has a total of 5 Chase cards and 4 Barclays all pulled on TransUnion
9 HP in the last 24 mos, (all co-branded cards) 2 in the last 12 mos
2 will drop off end of the year.
His Chase CL is quite low 25k, FICO 816
Will apply end of Oct and see how it goes we need the miles for booking next year December trip.

It has been more than 24 mos since he rec'd the bonus for the United Explorer yet the total HP worry me at this point.

The 50k +$50 offer is back? That's great news. It had recently dropped to 30k +$50. Are you seeing the better offer when doing a mock booking or some other way?

Glimmer of hope data point:

I've opened 8 or so cards in roughly 8 months. 2 Chase (SW) and already cancelled one of them. The other hasn't had a balance on it for months.

Took a shot in the dark for the Ink Plus yesterday, got the "call" response. I called, was put on hold for 3 minutes and was told my business was verified and I was approved. I do have a legit side business with it's own website, so maybe they went to it?

Regardless, got the Ink Plus, with greater than the 5/24 rule.

Denver - beltway is referring to the restriction of only getting the bonus once in 24 months as opposed to the 5/24 rule.

beltway, duranza - what do the terms say on the current UE app? I suspect the 24 month bonus terms no longer apply (in writing).

This new Cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this consumer credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this consumer credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this consumer credit card within the last 24 months

Ed: I thought he meant the total HP worried him at this point since he said "the total HP worry me at this point"!

But to be fair I think he edited his post after you (correction: Beltway) responded the first time.

Went through the Chase Ink Plus application process starting at the end of August. I have an LLC so it is a legitimate business. Initially received an e-mail asking for more information as they could not verify either my EIN or business address (the address doesn't come up on database searches so that was not unexpected). I sent, what I thought were the correct documents from a Chase branch. Before reading this thread I called and was told the application had been denied because they still could not verify the company or it's address. I talked to a helpful man on the phone who specified which documents were required, which included the IRS SS-4 or the Articles of Organization plus a utility bill with the business address on it. These I sent and then, based on the advice here, did not call. Yesterday, 25 days from my original application, I got the approval e-mail :-)

Not sure if anyone called auto app status line lately - Applied UA personal last week, got Decision Pending. Called the auto line, every call, the recording has been for the past week:

"You will be notified in writing within 30 days ..." in a not so upbeat tone

Never heard that recording before, anyone?

I may be wrong, but I believe that just means they haven't made a decision yet. I have an app that's giving me that same message so hopefully that's the case.

Applied for one Marriott Business and two Fairmont personal cards (including my spouse) yesterday. Both Fairmont cards I got a reference number and asked me to call.

I called for my Fairmont app and spoke to one of the credit specialist. She put me on hold and came back a couple of minutes later asking if I was comfortable moving some credit line from another Chase CC. I agreed so she puts me on hold again and comes back a minute later saying this app needs to be looked into for further review.

Any suggestions? Also, if I get rejected, when should I apply again?

Applied for the Southwest personal 2 weeks ago, got the 30 day msg everyday for a week, then got the approved message and received the card a few days ago.
