If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

I got a warning letter about transfers from my UR to someone else's...yes I sold 140K URs to someone else. The warning letter stated that continuous transfers would lead to account closure..so ok, I'll be a good boy. Today when I called Chase, they said you have to talk to the "security team". I didn't and my account is still active. I am concerned if I talk to that "team" they're talking about, I might be asked what I did with the points. How do I proceed with this? Any experiences?

Easy. Tell them you gave the points to a friend.

I hope that's sarcastic!

Either way, please do NOT post your letter here! You've admitted that you've done something against their terms - don't help them link this admission to your account.

I hope your estimate of how many miles you sold is a little bit off the real value so that they can't like you based on that either.

Has anyone here gotten their accounts closed for bill pay from too many sources? My friend got all of his chase accounts closed for bill pay from too many sources (1 serve, 1 redbird).

That's what your friend says Chase told him? Or the letter says this?

There was a poster in that situation several months ago. Read back you will find the related posts. Paying from multiple sources was one of the reasons given for account closures.

brother's business and personal cards were all closed today with a note about 'abuse' which I don't have full details yet. He suspects his Redcard loads the past 2 months may have triggered it

I wonder how Chase would view those Serve loads that seem very popular in Serve thread? Some even called Chase when their cards declined the transactions...

I am starting to buy AMEX gift cards from office max with a bold card to pay $5,000 in tuition to get 25,000 UR points. I already bought $400 , transaction ewas exactly $400 in one transaction ($15 off if buying over $300 so it is as if it is fee free).

I do put other spending on the bold card but clearly it is used as a personal card: groceries, dept store, etc. Do you think these flat dollar transactions will put me at risk if I do a lot of $300 and $400 transactions. If I do $600 and pay a little of the fee it would be $606.95 and I do not like having a transaction end in $6.95.

Any suggestions on the best way to proceed?

Was he pushing payments to Chase from multiple accounts?

Certainly seems like a lot of people load 1k from chase cards a month. They could be viewing Redcard differently, or there's something else to it.

I just want to share my experience about account shutdown by Chase. From Feb. 2012, I aggressively applied for chase cards and got almost all of the cards I want. CSP visa, CSP MasterCard, UA explore personal, UA business, Marriott, IHG, Freedom, BA, Hyatt, InK bold, INK plus... And I abused the bonus category, spent 100k each year in 2012/3 in ice cream. traded UR points for GPUs... Actually I am a lazy man and no time for complex MS. But during the golden day, I can buy 10k ice cream in one trip. Eventually in October 2013, all my chase card got shutdown with over 100,000 UR Points and never got back. Even my checking account, which always have balance over $100,000, was shut down and chase sent me a check and do not want my business. I made some phone calls and it was no help at all. I changed to Citi and AME. I have not applied any chase card until last week. I got 75k AME and 50k USairways approved and no other cards I want to apply. After read this thread, especially JK2, I decided to apply for UA because award availability and Shopping portal. The application was under review and I made a call. The agent asked many question about my identity, even my address ten years ago. Eventually he approved me with 30k credit limit. This Monday, I got the card by UPS and activiAted it and did over 10 transactions. All went OK. Thank God, I am back. I do think Chase made right decision one year ago because nobody want to deal with unprofitable customer. And chase also did right thing this time.

For people with the similar experience, cheer up, you all deserve another chance.
