You can't compare tax payments with anything else...nobody else (AFAIK) awards miles for tax payments!
You have to compare apples with apples. If you wish to compare absolute earn rates, Moneyback's $10/mile doesn't beat your AY earn rate of $0.47/mile http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...iamond.html#10 .

a trivia for you all. In HK:
top 1-10,000 people earn 9.3mio HKD average/annum (tat's about 1.5mio HKD in tax, or exceeds maximum on this offer)
top 10,001-50,000 people earn 2.2mio HKD average/annum (that's about 350k HKD in tax, or 940 Asiamiles)
top 50,001-100,000 earn 1mio HKD average/annum (that's about 100k HKD in tax, or 250 Asiamiles)
... so ... just my 2 cents.

http://www.bankcomm.com.hk/en/credit...ant_offer.html
http://www.bankcomm.com.hk/mediafile...df_9832_en.pdf
Count >=$500 spending only.
Max extra rewards 6,250 points (so if you're still in the 5X range, max txn = $1,526.5; 10X, $694.44; 20X, 328.95 (deadweight loss of $171.05 cos min txn's $500!).
Makes this offer restrictive...essentially you're just tacking on 6,250 points for each transaction...
But just confirmed with CS, this 5X-20X offer runs in parallel to the Bankcomm Diamond double points offer (like the welcome offer, above). So if you have a big ticket item that can be paid for by Unionpay to earn $4/mile anyway, this is just icing on the cake.
Different story on the Bankcomm $12/mile Plat Visa

HSBC is swamping cardholders with offers I couldn't keep track. I've just paid 12K at Smartone and missed it (though I earned sorely needed Virgin miles instead so it's a wash).
Other offers of which this only forms one part https://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/2/special/cards/prom206 . There's also a $60 coupon for $1,000 spending offer from Sogo.
Edit 8:47pm: extra 4X, not extra 5X like the "Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice" offer.

http://www.prnasia.com/pr/11/11/110349632-3.html (Citibank releases offers first via PRN Asia before its own website. PRN Asia is a press release website.)
(Sorry only Chinese version available): 第一期指定商戶包括Apple Store (只限ifc mall門市)
My reference to the Apple Store app (and the link as well) merely refers to the report that you can get a pick-up time for the iPhone4S at IFC Apple Store via the app (there are certain windows where this is allowed, but these are not preannounced).

Quick update of iPhone4s bid/ask prices
OK I know this looks seriously OT, but I gathered this info cos I want fulfil the Citibank Premiermiles 10,000 welcome miles offer by buying a couple of iPhone4S (plus the $600 for $10,000 spending at Apple Store rebate http://www.prnasia.com/pr/11/11/110349632-3.html)
Apple Store sale (ask) prices for iPhone4S (stock intermittently available):
16GB: $5,088
32GB: $5,688
64GB: $6,688
Highest Sin Dat posted (as in listed on the wall, I wasn't about to ask those thuggish sales to quote the whole range) purchase (bid) price observed at 4PM on 26 Nov 2011 (m.focus shop at G/F):
16GB: $6,500
32GB: $6,750
64GB: $7,400
Surprisingly the smaller the capacity, the wider the premium offered above Apple's price.
Also the prices are for non-HK iPhones4S (i.e. iPhones4S from Canada and Aus) are trading for $200 below HK iPhone4S (as the 12-month warranty is not global).

Did anyone receive $100 credit for linking their Shanghai Commercial Bank Visa with their Octopus AAVS? I received the $100 credit for my card, my wife's card, and also an additional $100 for something else. It reads like this on my statements:
28/11/2011 SCB AAVS SETUP REWARD-SEP 100.00 CR
28/11/2011 SCB SUPP CARD SETUP REWARD-SEP 100.00CR
28/11/2011SCB INB SETUP REWARD-SEP 100.00CR
[edit] I am on their website and trying to find a link to download a form or an online application for another supplementary card. Does anyone have the form or can help provide a link. Thanks!

Thanks Percysmith!
Was wondering when will you guys transfer your Bank of Communication points to Asia miles. As the offer of $8/1AM expires at the end of this month, if I make the enquiry to transfer say after Christmas, will it be too late?
