No need to be too worried. TPE in J twice a month = 30x2x2x12 = 1440 per year to get DMP. Almost too good to be true, I also don't think it's real but even if it is, it should be a piece of cake to most current DM in FT to fly 1440 points a year.

It would be unfair if they decide to remove the tier reset without some kind of compensatory move. Most of us went through the process of accumulating every tier from zero. 2,100 pts is 300 pts short from two DM renewals in the current system.

I guess if CX removes tier reset, more tier points are required to reach GO and DM, maybe at least for the first time. Or perhaps lower the tier point requirement for renewal, which is essentially similar to reset.

I really wonder if there are still so many benefits to slice into 5 different tiers
And does anyone have any idea abt the timeline of rolling out the new program?

I believe J lounge for SL is the major selling point CX has. CX designed its lounge space with this in mind. I can see CX potentially limiting J lounge access for SL in airports without a CX lounge, but I do not see this coming for CX's own lounges.
I also highly doubt CX would take F lounge away from DM (which is oneworld emerald which comes with F lounge access) unless the current DM becomes DM+ and the new DM is equivalent to 900 tier points today.

They will lose a lot of premium Y customers.
Y will be left to only compete for price sensitive customers.
currently many pay extra for CX Y, purely for silver status.
But considering that management is intent on down sizing CX to justify a merger , this strategy would not be surprising.

Lounge access for Silver is probably the largest selling point for occasional travellers who are willing to spend a few bucks and who care about airport and airline experience. Without the perks that attract loyalty, it may be difficult to justify the margin that CX is charging for the same route that its competitors are all flying to (say intra-Asia).
That said, I would not be surprised if they take away the companion benefit for Silver, limiting priority baggage and check-in to the holder only. That would add more gold to GO.

Excuse me? This summer CX's Europe flights will grow from 80 weekly to 96 weekly. However, you decided to conclude that 80 - 96 > 0.

Just ignore him. He has already attracted 20 pages of meaningless arguments surrounding him in the other post.

Despite cumulative hours and hours of small talk about Cathay and a lot of details shared among people, I had never heard of this benefit, not had it ever come up. Seat guarantee, yes. Lounges, drinks on board, J and F seat design, wine, events, all the time conversation. But "cancellation/ticket hold benefit", never
I only read about this benefit here, as it was shutting down. I really felt i had missed something great. My hunch is it was probably heavily used by a small percent of DMs in the known and a majority of us were none the wiser.
