HKG is not longer the city it used to be and CX is a tarnished brand.

Of course most people on here think that Budapest and Riyadh are more lucrative than SEA, EWR and DFW.

But basic stats like, Income per capita, % of expats, GDP and other airlines are all ignored cause clearly all other airlines are foolish .

What about LIT? Or VPS? Or maybe ILM? And, buy a shell company with a US AOC so they can run shuttle service between them.

but the launch of HKG-DOH with Aria suites, may get QR deploy q suites planes to HKG, like what they now doing with SIN route

Would bet any amount of money that HKG-Doha will not be the first route to see Aria Suites LOL

Does CX even currently serve Doha, or it’s just Qatar Pacific planes?

None of Seattle (w/ all the competition), Dallas (just… no) and EWR (just… even more No) currently make sense w/ Russian airspace closure

boybi Apr 2, 2024 11:59 pm

Is CX not allowed to use Russian airspace?

CX is allowed to use Russian airspace but they only choose to use it on certain routes (mostly on East Coast of North America like Toronto and NY).

used to be 4 daily.
And had at least 3 first class flights daily.

Also had a daily EWR flight.
And a 4 weekly flight to DC.

....and will have again if the traffic demand and Boeing deliveries allow it to be possible

all HKG - DOH flights are operated by QR with purely ex-Cathay B777-300ER

Dallas makes no sense for HKG unless there is some hugely lucrative OW agreement with AA or something like that, as HK passengers go less into US midwest.
Maybe SEA in the future once CX is back at 2019 levels, have a .... ton of money to fondle with, has a great name like it used to. I see that coming, just give it time.
And finally, EWR doesn't make significant sense as that should be a transit flight or serving NYC, but for CX I see greater reasons adding JFK frequency (4 daily was prepandemic levels) as this is an AA hub. EWR is a UA hub.

.... my bad didnt see this post. Ummm I mean NGB is in the ZheJiang province, and thats among the richest provinces in China so I dont think its completely stupid. On top of that, they can always redirect other passengers to NGB for a transfer... despite that it is stupid to locate it in NGB instead of PVG or SZX.

Perhaps Ningbo is a stand-in for PVG? United had SFO-Hangzhou briefly before they got their second slot at PVG

Remarkably, Shanghai Airlines has never had much trouble securing slots in Shanghai:D

Oh really? At PVG? I thought most shanghai airline flights are out of Hongqiao (I think SHX or SHA I forgot). They do get a domestic advantage for sure, and maybe some legacy slots they occupied years back.

Maybe the time has come to put the Budapest conspiracy theories back into their box (on the shelf next to the "CX is going to join Star Alliance" file)?

When will Seattle resume?

2 and a half years after HKG-Budapest launches and [immediately] turns a profit at Xi’s behest!!

Going to guess (and I think this is fairly safe) you are going to see CX open a number of new Middle East and mainland routes before any new or even resumed US route. I would stop asking about it for at least a couple years.
