Award Cancellation / Miles Refund Help

Hi All.

Is there something in the process I am missing with getting Asia Miles refunded back to my account?

I cancelled two tickets online and received a cancellation email within minutes. The following day, I received a second email stating that I needed to choose between 17k miles penalty or pay $120USD per person and to let them know no later than 11/7.

I responded the same day, only to receive an auto reply stating that that email is only for info changes and Asia Miles claims (which I assume this falls under). No response received so I sent a second email / follow up. Still no answer.

Tried using We Chat and that is just auto replies / links to the website stating the process.

Basically I am just looking to pay the $120/person and get the miles back but I can't get a link sent to me. I am US based and it's 150k miles so not looking for them to go to waste.

TIA

I think your best bet is giving CX a call to get it sorted. I processed an award ticket refund too a couple of months ago via phone call. The chat on CX website after you're logged in also seems to be a viable option to reach them (which has also helped me for what it's worth). The email option seems to have gone to hell since the pandemic. I couldn't even find an email address of The Club on their website anymore.

Dear Flyertalkers,

Same topic but different question:

I called CX several times and receive a different answer each time. I have an award booking purchased with CX Asia Miles (flight on BA metal). How close to the flight departure can I cancel (if needed)? I've received several different answers from CX including: anytime before flight departure time, at the latest 24 hours before departure, at the latest 3 hours before departure and in one case, before the ticket validity expires (which is one month AFTER the flight departure ). So, I am very confused!!

Would love to get some advice here! )) I trust you all more than CX phone staff!

Many thanks!!

Sorry to bring it up again. So, does that mean I can cancel and pay 120 dollars even after my departure date?? Will I be able to change date after no show? (paying appropriate fees obviously) Cheers

Following up, I have a redemption award from US to Australia via HKG.

How close to departure can I cancel the redemption award assuming my non stop on another airline clears that same day (looks good) ? Per the no show comment appears I can even cancel as a no show - which I would not do.

Ive only done a change after no-show (for just the change fee)- but Id reckon that a cancellation would work similarly (the ticket is still valid, just pay the cancellation amount).
