All items were good except the apple pie desert, which looked like the crew forgot to warm (not pictured).

I think Cathay has short-changed KL customer. No longer can customer has the cheess plate and the dessert as in cake. Its real shame Cathay has done this way. Real shame! |

Large dishes ... Cauliflower "mac n cheese", sauteed leeks Vegetable sides Brussel sprouts, soy lardons, chili maple butter Roast portobello mushroom, rosemary garlic butter ... HK has a lot of amazing vegetarian restaurants (where you don't miss the protein despite ditching the meat), and I do wonder if some local fare make it to the CX J menu. (Actually, haven't been on CX J lately, since I gave up eating red meat. My flight pattern has me flying AA mostly. They once served me stir-fried noodles with veg dumplings. Still a lot of carbs compared to the other option but nice try to move away from the penne or fettuccine.) |

Cod, duck noodle soup and omelette were all respectable but not especially noteworthy.

Fish noodles were ok; the dim sum selection didn't sound that appetizing.

CX 830
Does anyone have the current J menu? I assume even though it's a 9:00AM departure they will be serving lunch? What about meal before landing? Will it be breakfast? Thx
Answering my own question. I forgot to take a photo of the menu, but CX830 menu consists of lunch after take-off and dinner (served mid-flight - about 5:45PM HKG time). There are also the usual snack options (burger, noodle soup and afternoon tea). The chicken teriyaki I had for lunch was barely edible, I asked for the prawn replacement (wasn't much better). I should've asked for the steak. The halibut for dinner was absolutely stellar! My favorite part of the meal has always been the wonton noodle soup, though. |
