Thx Lester/Percy for clarification

In my case, I prob wont bother with the hassle of paying it all weekly for the sake of 420RC. I don't really have anything to buy at the designated merchants but have plenty to spend in local non designated merchants

thanks!

CCB is your friend then, if you are a selected customer. All spending categories.

SCB also running a $300 for $8,000 spending promo (incl $2,000 dining/online/Wellcome/Marketplace) promo right now, just used that to swipe a gold piece gift.

I think I will apply for the SC worldmiles card as I need to spend 80k in the next month or so. They have the welcome offer off of 34,000 miles with 80k of spending. (only bad point is having to apply for both the Amex & the VISA at the same time)

I cant seem to get no clear information about the CCB credit card. Do they also do asiamiles?

I already have the DBS, HSBC, Cathay Elite, Citibank premier miles so the two above are the only ones I have not got yet

CCB - yes. Base rate is very tame $15/mile rate but they do regular promotion

A 939 promotion is a play on their stock code 0939.HK - you get two times extra miles up to a certain threshhold and 8.39 times extra miles after that up to 5,000 extra miles per card per month.

Every time they release one we have to calculate the "magic number" of achieving the 5,000 extra miles (this time: $15,400 for most people). They have two Platinum Visa, one Titanium (soon to be Platinum) MasterCard available for application and the limit applies to each card individually.

My CCB 939 target spending is HK$8,000 this time. Does that mean my "magic number" is $15,400? I tried to calculate it and came up with a magic number of about $14,000. But I'm not nearly as good at these calculations as you.

Many thanks, as always, percysmith. I've lost count of the number of extra Asiamiles I've earned as a result of your excellent advice.

Citi Rewards add-on benefits - 8X on birthday month and 25K points for 10K each qutr

http://www.citibank.com.hk/english/c...ITLRewardsCard
http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=13540

8X seems to by extra 3X tack on top of 5X

25K points/quarter is 1,666.66 points (extra 10K each month)

I haven't noticed any negative change so far.
