Your loyalty to CX is almost admirable at this point. You sure did pick an appropriate handler.
Not sure about you, but I never got any op-ups on promotion to GO or DM.

Was your first flight after the promotion already in F, or in J on a 2-class aircraft? My humble experience: J to F opup on my 5th anniversary (as SL), and Y to J on my 10th (as GO). On my promotion from SL to GO, a long haul Y to J opup. Also was upgraded twice as a nobody.

OTOH, I share your experience on the futility of seat blocking. It seems that the seat block never works when my MPC number is in the booking, but I always have empty seats next to me when I fly as a nobody.

BTW, I enjoy reading your posts on CX and thanks for the relatively unbiased perspective!

You know good point here, due to some very specific circumstances I remember clearly my first flight as GO I was in paid F HKG-LAX. I'm pretty sure I didn't get it GO-DM, but I do vaguely recall my first ISM greeting as a DM, though - the purser made a point of telling me "this is your first flight as a DM, congratulations", or something of that sort. So it definitely was in the system. I know I was in Y when she told me that, but maybe it was a flight where J and F were oversold (it was on KA) and I couldn't be op-upped.

Your praise is appreciated, thanks

Must be very situational specific, and subjects to availability.

Maybe CX should just give the op-up coupon as a nice gesture of good will.

Just a question I want to ask. If for example I OLCI and get BN#1, and then decide to change my seat, will I lose my BN#1 as a result?

Nope, you won't.

12 hours before departure time,I used to accidentally cancel the OLCI whilst holding BN#1. When I re-did the OLCI, I, nevertheless, still got BN#1 back...

Only if no one else checks-in during the interim, though.
