Oh, that's good to know. I'll add the Citi Rewards to my list as well then.

T&C for dining - Transactions made in respect of banquet services, private functions,....will not be counted as Eligible Transactions.

Birthday dinner with 30 family members & friends in a Chinese Restaurant for 3 tables for $9,000.
Is it an Eligible Transaction?

The event doesn't matter. My family's throwing a 11-table event at Man Ho and our deposits all earn 6X.

The terminal coding does

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...p?id=7116&p=12

There's no way to tell how a terminal is coded in advance - other than googling hongkongcard.com and here, the only other tactic is to call HSBC when the card's being swiped and have them confirm the Merchant Category Code as soon as the waiter takes the authorisation, even before you sign the slip. If it's not dining, void it.

I've done this to confirm coding at MO. Fortunately they were dining and an ugly void was not necessarily.

But in your specific case, a stand-alone Chinese restaurant is almost certainly going to be OK for dining.

Thanks for the headsup - for HSBC, does it mean that it is capped at HKD 7500 for the entire promotion or per day?

For SC AmEx, when we are using it online, or using it to pay over the phone, eg for airline taxes, do we say it is an Amex or what?

HSBC Red Hot Travel Special 8 Apr-11 May

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=12035
https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...avel/overseas/

1 extra RC per $20 spend overseas
i.e. $1.33/mile extra + $16.67/mile basic
= $1.23/mile
(If 6X overseas, $0.90/mile)

Cap of 500 extra RC --> $10,000 spend

But - card present spending only - no online, mail order, fax or phone.

Derek2010:
6x + extra 5x should be simultaneous with earn fast (if hkd) or overseas (if non-hkd)
Earn fast and overseas are mutually exclusive
