I have my gold tags on my bag because:

1) I want to show off
2) I don't need to DYKWIA anyone - the tags do it for me
3) I didn't have any friends at school and the tags make me feel like I'm successful and popular
4) I like bling

But seriously....

I don't tag check-in bags for the reasons mentioned elsewhere in this thread (unnecessary attention) but I do keep them on my cabin bag to make it a bit clearer for fast track, priority boarding, check-in etc. I don't like having to say "I'm gold" to staff at airports as if I'm a pompous git. That said, having them on probably makes me look like that anyway....

Gold baggage tags are certainly not essential, are they?

"4) I like bling"

I like bling too.

I have two silver cards (BA/BD) on my laptop bag - carry it to work everyday.

When my old school friends see them they think Im a international playboy; I dont have the heart to tell them I internet date and spend Monday to Thursday in the Danish equivalent of Travelodge.

My name is JPS76, and Im a (k)nob...

Ha. As well as my BA one I have my AC Super-Elite tag. Just like the self-important lean over the check-in desk or the infuriated glare at anyone who dares to dawdle whilst ahead of me in a queue, it's a must-have accessory for the savvy DYKWIA flyer.... as well as giving some additional willy-waving ability when in the company of other frequent travellers.

Actually, the real reason I have the AC SE one, is because I flew a hard-earned 100,000 miles to get it (mostly in economy no less), and I feel the need to get some benefit out of the damn thing. When I drop down to Elite next year I won't bother displaying a *A tag.

Hehe - good stuff, guys.

If I'm honest, there certainly is a grain of truth in the sense of achievement having flown so much to get the status!

Can anybody mail me an image of a BA Gold luggage tag so I can print them, laminate them and hang them on everything?

To (k)nob or not to (k)nob? That is the question!

Absolutely - and not just the previous design but even the one that raised type for the name and number.

Amazing how many one sees on the tube!

I once saw that a friend of mine had a First baggage tag on his cabin bag, probably from a one-time free upgrade. We were flying Royal Jordanian at the time, so it wasn't even appropriate. I bet he ironed it for re-use. I did the honorable thing and picked him up on it and gave him as much abuse as I possibly could for this sin

Well, they haven't been issued for about 5 years for a start. Surely if you want a luggage tag and are Blue, picking up something from Smythson or the like would be nicer than an aging, frayed piece of blue plastic?

Or I have some old SQ PPS tags somewhere I could send you (nice leather holder for them). A bit of marker and tippex and they are yours.

Double-Nob

I have both a BA Gold and AF/KL Platinum tags on my laptop bag. I removed the UA 1K tag because, well...it's not quite as posh as it used to be.

Keeping up Appearances indeed.
