Meanwhile I am enjoying the kippers and scrambled eggs — a bit surprised they didn’t come with toast but I managed to get some extra.

Diamond Air is a service you pay for at LHR. They offer a £75 meet & greet service, where someone comes and meets you at the end of the jetbridge, and just walks round the airport with you.

They dont allow you to skip any queues, but they're handy if you're new to the airport and need help.

AA offer CKs a far far better experience!

They offer other arrival and departure services, including a car service.

Actually it might not be a phone call. He might just be talking super loudly to someone else in person!

edited to add: now sounds much quieter. Wonder if he’s a flyertalker?

Sounds like the sort of person who'd start a thread dedicated to a DYKWIA, rather than posting on the thread the forum has for that purpose ;-)

Touché — will ask mods to merge with that thread. Sorry early morning, little sleep and not functioning at 100%

They do, but the vast majority of their custom is for the general Meet & Greet service.

Wont go into how I know, but very few opt for the car service.

Sounds like a good service to know about. I'm thinking about a few thread in the past year asking for help for parents that didn't speak english but didn't need wheelchair assistance.

Cant be that big of a DYKWIA in F lounge, and not in the CCR

There used to be a line at the bottom of the daily lounge briefing that said something like:
"UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE ANY DIAMOND AIR STAFF ALLOWED TO ENTER THE LOUNGE"
.... make of that what you will, must be some history there I suppose!

That must be really annoying if they're flying somewhere in J/F, I wonder if they get a voucher for Pret instead...

Probably why he is hanging around LHR so much and just pretending to us on FT that he's an international jet-setter

The only car I drive was parked at LHR for a week - during which time it was all over various social media, and umpteen FTers sent me photos of themselves (and their kids) with it - was very amusing and fun!
