BA at Manchester
MAN airport website for BA info (including security wait times): https://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/...itish-airways/
Terminal and check-in desks:
All BA flights depart and arrive at Terminal 3.
Departure:
Fast Track security is available, subject to usual BA rules. It works pretty well most of the time, but do check before you join the fast track lane if it's a single lane to avoid taking longer in fast track than in the normal lanes.
Lounges:
The Escape Lounge in T3 is available for BA passengers. As with the previous arrangement at T3, Escape will allow access along usual BA eligibility rules (class of travel and / or status), including 2 guests for GGL and Premier cardholders. The lounge is open from 04:00 and closes at 20:00 each day.
Gates:
Flights typically depart from from Gate 142 or 143.
Boarding is generally prioritised by Groups.
Arrivals:
Flights land at Terminal 3. WHSmith will be open in Terminal 3 Arrivals.
Flights tend to arrive at Gates 142 or 143, with an airbridge to the terminal. There is a flight of steps down to ground level once in the terminal.
Baggage collection is usually belt 13.

Would be staggered if T1 closes within 18 months. Jet 2 have had to move some of their large operation back to T1 as T2 is so capacity-constrained. Not to mention the huge EZY operation out of T1. There will certainly be some movement to T2 as the next tranche of gates comes onboard, but I can't see how it will be anywhere near enough to move all T1 traffic over yet.

Just to say that last week I flew from MAN for first time in 15 years (although that was with BMI as the point earning was infinitely better than BA. I did fly almost weekly for 5 years from late 90’s though) and any regular travellers on here from T3 have my deepest sympathies.

Or, "due to Covid, we haven't got enough trained staff to do blah blah blah".
It might have something to do with T1 being demolished, and they're working on cabling etc.?

First post covid T3 visit
I had my first T3 experience since 2019 yesterday. I arrived at check in at 14.00 for the 17.10 to LHR, no staff in attendance. At 14.35 a Menzies employee arrived followed by a second at 14.40. I was second in the queue and completed check in at 14.50. At 15.00 I was in the Escape lounge, very short fast track queue and easy bag scan although screening staff attempted a delay by insisting on removing BP from my shirt pocket. Lounge food ok but no premium boose unless you count Bailey's and Pimms. Wine offerings looked a little suspect and more appropriate for hen parties. Lounge only 25% full when I arrived but more like 75% before I left. Bring back the old BA lounge. Flight 35 minutes delayed but top marks to CC for serving 2 drinks plus chicken salad followed by trifle in the 30 minutes flying time.

From reading other sites, there is a nationwide shortage of ATC staff. NCL & MAN have had to close temporarily recently due to ATC staff going off sick, and having no immediate standby available.

Agreed, it is even affecting some General Aviation airports e.g. Gloucester where it is a common occurrence to combine Tower and Approach frequencies on the radio, due to lack of trained (or any) staff.
