G-ZZZA and G-ZZZB going to Kemble to be scrapped, widebodied aircraft to be ferried around the UK in the coming days.

A great question, I was wondering the same of how long an aircraft can stay grounded until it needs some kind of re-certification to say it’s safe to fly again?

(Avoiding any MAX chat here!)

I don’t know the ins and outs here but aircraft are going places where they can be looked after.

they will have daily, weekly, monthly engineering inputs to keep everything in tip top condition so that they can be reactivated quickly when needed.

engines will be fired up, systems run etc

unless of course a decision is made to enter them into a longer period of storage where they will be sealed as air tight as possible and everything drained etc such as aircraft in the us desert

I was waiting for G-ZZZA/B to go, they were certain to be retired with all this going on.

If BA used all of the LHR maintenance area, all T4 and remote stands plus T5 stands not in use, surely they could keep a good bulk of aircraft in London. They also have LGW.

BA doesn't want to pay the HAL parking rates!

Interestingly we are finding it harder to find places that will scrape them.

CIHY - Guessing you meant 'take them'. If you want to scrape them, can I have I go coz I'm sure I'd do that!

Any idea's where the A380's are gonna park?

The Kemble management team get very upset if you don't call it "Cotswold Airport"
