Menu for last night’s BA54 JNB-LHR (and, seemingly, BA42 CPT-LHR as well):

And the meal …. (hake main course)

Yes but they have cleverly disguised the higher-quality ingredients. You know, to avoid embarrassing any F guests with immodesty.

Yes, we had this menu on BA42 ex CPT last Sunday. The starter was good and the hake wasn't too overcooked. The mushroom ravioli, on the other hand, was a congealed mass and inedible. We didn't appreciate the cheese plonked on top of the chutney. The cheese omelette served for breakfast was passable, too.

And that extra £ was just about to be reinvested into the catering, any minute now, wait for it

Mixed review on our recent LGW/PUJ.

Outbound, the 2nd offering ... "Light Meal", aka Full-on Roast Chicken! Even the CSD was surprised.

However, the inbound sector was a resounding success and one of our best BA CW meal ever. Honestly.

Lady T's Fillet of Beef ... Medium Rare! It can be done!

My Shrimp Wrapped [in] Fillet of Sole ... quite delicious and again perfectly cooked with all the seafood moist and tender.

Since when has one dessert been a "selection of desserts"?

A few things intrigued me about this menu!

1: Dessert & Cheeses... I'd be interested if you could have had both!
2: English muffin with sunny side up egg. I wonder what this would have looked like!

I think I'm just hungry...

Hi

You do get both the desert and the cheese as everything comes in one tray
the cheese comes in a small bowl rather that a plate as per the photos above.

You do not really get a selection ( my view of selection usually implies a choice but you could always leave one uneaten)

‘Summer’ quinoa salad on a flight in the northern hemisphere…is this the start of an ‘anti-seasonal’ food trend…?

The cynic in me thought this was more about clearing out old stocks :-)

I had the Seabream on the 176 last night. Apart from the top being a bit dry underneath the fish was soft, moist and flaky. It tasted better than it looked. The white chocolate mouse didn’t look anything special but also tasted good.

Are service and orders currently done from front to back of the cabin?

Yes, I think that's always the case on BA although orders may be prioritised by status if needed once back in the galley.
