2019 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2018 or earlier if you have a 2019 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #9

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Hello everyone. I’ve looked through the thread but can’t find an answer to this one so please accept my apologies if I’ve missed it. I was about to book a return CE to Paphos but the next day, when my return became available at +355, the outbound switched from “i” bucket to crazy bucket and it doesn’t make sense. Equally, economy outbound is so cheap it’s daft and the return CE remains good value. Ideally, I’d like to book as flight and car so I was thinking of booking outbound Y and return CE plus the car (which is pretty good value) and I just pay the deposit, the idea being to pay for a POUG for the outbound if it pops up. However, I have no experience of POUG’s being offered when it’s a “package” flight and car. Does anyone have any experience of this please/has anyone ever seen it or is POUG strictly a flight only thing?

Thank you.

POUGs after obtaining Gold status.

I achieved Gold Status 2 weeks ago. Since then I’ve made 2 return trips all in ET (LGW-BOD and LHR-NCL).

In in the past I’ve had a high POUG hit rate, especially on the LHR-NCL flight.

On neither of these was I offered a POUG. Not that I especially need them for TPs or FLounge access but Avios are always useful and better seats are often welcome!

Just wondering whether this is usual, if others have encountered and whether it resets itself when my year ends and I’m back actively earning TPS in August

Thanks all

Was just offered and accepted (for myself+daughter on same itinerary) $819/pax via the iOS app for WTP->CW on BA0284 for 02JUN19 SFO->LHR.

While I've been on FT for years, I apparently haven't posted enough to be able to update the wiki so would appreciate if someone could do so--thanks in advance!

Booked into row 60 as I have not been on the 744 upper deck before and sadly the queen's days are numbered....

POUGs are strictly flight only, based on a BA channel single or return ticket, and so if you have a package including a car I think it is unlikely that you will be offered a POUG. Almost any complication rules out a POUG. In theory AUP would be possible instead, on the day of travel, however those Paphos flights often fill up in CE, so I would make no assumption on that. It is possible, if you book via an agent, that they will see some way of making it cheaper. Buying a long way out isn't necessarily a great idea, particularly from LGW, since their main competitor easyJet releases tickets in blocks and with a shorter horizon. So currently their last booking date is 28 March. If you like the fare you currently have lined up then yes lock it in, you get peace of mind that way.

Thanks so much CWS. Funnily enough, I said to my partner after posting this that if anyone were to reply, it would be you! I half expected this to be the case so will take your advice. Currently £75 Y and £639 CE is a little odd though (each way!) and a year away!

Hello RHWine,

My partner and I have been Gold for a couple of years and it does seem to be a lottery as to when a POUG is offered, with our experience being as extreme as none when a flight is empty but being offered one when a flight is busy but I guess that’s because BA want to sell more seats in Y (we’re mostly paid-for in CE and Avios for CW with occasional paid-for Y short haul Europe which is when we’d experience this). For what it’s worth, we’ve never noticed any difference at a specific time of year, either before or after our renewal date but others may be able to offer a more scientific explanation than my mere anecdotal nonsense!

Do you mean those last two trips since making gold were in ET? It would be tough to get a POUG offer if already in CE...

I’ve never noticed any particular variance in POUG frequency related to time of year or whether status has been gained/retained, suspect it’s just coincidence.

Added this for you. Like our own dear Queen Liz, BA’s 747s may be in the twilight of their days, but have displayed amazing longevity and appear to have a few years left in (some of) them yet

£109 each way on LHR-KEF (outbound 19/05, return 25/05). As that's a SH+ route, it's not a bad little earner. Unfortunately I only did a double-take after I'd checked in for the outbound flight, but I've snapped it up on the return.

EDI to LHR, £69 as per the wiki, which worked out £10 cheaper than booking the CE fare initially.

LHR-ACC £420 WTP-CW for June 14. Price has been as high as £760 and various prices inbetween but dropped again today to this the lowest price I have been offered.
