2019 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2018 or earlier if you have a 2019 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #9

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Not sure if this is a true "POUG", but checking in on a laptop for my LHR-ARN tomorrow - booked using Avios - I received an 'interstitial' offer of £129 to upgrade to Club Europe with the option to tell me more or something like "no thanks, not interested".

I declined, but having never been offered this on an Avios redemption it got me wondering whether I would receive any TP/Avios if I had accepted.

No, not when a POUG is on top of an Avios ticket. At least that's the policy. There are errors from time to time.

The policy is that POUGs and AUPs only increase Avios/TP earning when the "base" ticket is revenue.

Something I hadn’t seen before – a normal HBO booking LHR-DUB-LHR at the end of August, where when I click through to the “Upgrade this flight with money” option it presented me with three boxes, with outbound only and inbound only noted as unavailable and greyed out, and then Outbound and Inbound combination displayed as available (for 800 GBP for two as it happens – I declined!)

i think this is just the fare difference price and fairly standard. POUGs are offered in MMB no earlier than 2 days after the booking is made.

£159 MAD-LHR, August 2019. Wiki updated.

This was offered on an Avios redemption. I didn't take it, and instead changed my Avios booking as a reward seat popped up.

End of August 2019, LGW - LIM, £425 for WTP to CW. Not at all tempted for a day flight at that price but would consider for the overnight return. Although, half the seats in the WTP cabin are blocked as of today so fingers crossed for the magic beep!

End of September, 2019, LHR-MRS-LHR £119 each way on a Basic fare that doesn't include bags.

Not interested at that price especially when I have the reclining exit row (320) on each flight.

Late September 2019 LHR-ISB POUG from WT+ to Club originally offered for £450 then reduced a few days later to £366. Took the bite for the outbound which is overnight. Inbound is daytime so WT+ will do for me.

LHR-BOM Late October 2019 WTP to CW £2286 return (£1732 outbound and £729 inbound). Not going to take it!
Interestingly also offered WTP to F £5116 return (£4383 and £909 inbound), clearly a huge difference on the inbound and outbound fares

£599 for CW>F to GRU mid September (19). Probably not worth it for a 2235 departure vs CW with new bedding.

This £59 POUG LHR > LBA is a bit misleading to the passing customer...unless BA is suddenly running A350s up to Leeds for trial runs next week that I didn't know about!!
