It seems like we have quite a few are taking advantage of the recent good price on OTP-PHX so I thought it might be a good idea to see if we could put together some ad-hoc meet-ups. I don't want to organise anything as it seems that we are all travelling on different dates and, in some cases different routes, but it would be a shame to be on the same flight or in the same lounge as another FTer, not know and not be able to share a beer and stories... if that is what you want. Of course, if you like to travel alone then that is great too.
So, if you want others to know about your travel plans and fancy saying hi to fellow FTers please post your details and I will add you to the wiki. If you have wiki update access then please, by all means, update the wiki yourself
I am posting my hotel arrangements but if you would rather not do that yourself but wish to post your flights then that is also perfectly fine.
For those that want to read about the Aug 2018 PHX mini-do (quite a few did it!) it is here : https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...ug-2018-a.html
There are some links at the end of the wiki to interesting things to do around Phoenix. Please feel free to add to this list if you wish

Can I ask a rather basic question... what are the best exit row seats on these OTP flights? I am very confused as to whether that are rows 10,11,12 and what the criteria is. I have avoided exit rows altogether as I don't want a seat that does not recline especially if the seat in front does (in yer face so to speak). I currently have seats 8F and 9F.

Another basic question! I don't know the right place to ask it, but it does relate to the OTP-PHX run, which I'm doing over the Easter weekend, so I'll try here first!
I've never flown on AA before, but I've three domestic flights with them over the trip (the rest are BA operated) so, my question is: how strict are they on cabin baggage size? My trusty carry-on has never been measured in all my travels around Europe and parts east, but is a bit bigger than AA's stated limits (mainly in the width). For those with domestic US AA experience, is this going to be an issue?

If you are in First/Business you will probably not have a problem ( unless on a regional jet where space is very limited and youtr bag will be valet checked prior to boarding the aircraft and returned after you leave the aircraft at your destination). you will probably be surprised at what does come on as hand baggage)

I've been looking for info on hotels near OTP due to an early start. I know they were discussed in earlier threads about this fare but can't seem to find them. Can anyone help?
And thanks for the suggestion here to stay in Scottsdale. Will have a look there!

I've stayed at Vienna House twice. It's comfortable, good value for money and an easy walk to/from the airport (about ten minutes from terminal to hotel - no need to wait for the hotel shuttle).

Me too.. Was €68 as a prepaid offer. Found them very friendly via email in arranging my transfers. Staying there on 16th of April so cant comment on the accommodation but will revisit this thread to update during my TP run.
As a side note I am also staying in the Hilton at Helsinki airport on points (40k) for one night on the way out and paid about £130 for the reverse shuffle on the way home. In the US we are booked into Hilton Garden Inn at Phoenix Airport (not the North one) at about $100 a night.

I would like to put in a good word for La Livada near OTP.
Someone on here recommended it during last year but I've forgotten who it was so can't give them the credit.
Anyway, I stayed there twice last November and will be going back in a couple of weeks. It is costing me the princely sum of 128 lei (just over £23). Breakfast is an optional extra - the basic one for 5 euros is lovely. Sorry about working in so many different currencies. It takes me about 20 mins to walk from/to the airport (in my capacity as a little old lady). I wouldn't want to do it with wheeled luggage as the surface is quite uneven in places. I also wouldn't walk it in the dark though I think it would be perfectly safe.
The rooms were comfortable, decent shower, wifi and tv. No coffee maker or kettle in either of the rooms I was in but one had a fridge.
People who run it are lovely.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I also have the option of flying to OTP quite late the night before my flight, but no idea if the lounge would be open all night and whether that would be a decent place for 4-5 hours overnight?

Is walking to the Vienna House Hotel really easy? Is it safe in the evening/early morning? I will have a rollalong so wouldn't want to do it if the ground was rough. Looking to stay twice in April to bookend my OTP-PHX run.
You couldn't give me directions from arrivals could you?
Currently booked into the Ramada Plaza but would prefer something nearer the airport and if walking is sensible then I would prefer to walk rather than wait for shuttles/taxis etc.

Here is some really useful info if you are stopping overnight at OTP...
Bucharest (OTP) lounge recommendations?
A review of the Mastercard Lounge (used by BA)...
Review of Mastercard Business Lounge at OTP (Bucharest)
BA Lounge Database (search for OTP)...
BA Lounge Database | Europe
If that is correct then it looks like the lounges are 24hrs

Also staying at the Vienna on the 18th following recommendations from last year's TP travellers and based on late arrival. However as I don't fly back until 6pm on the 19th was wondering if worth switching to something more central and seeing some more of the city. Missed the Peoples Palace last time but any other thoughts? Thanks

Yes, I'm in domestic first on two of the AA flights and on an ERJ 145 for the third, where the bag may not be allowed in the cabin anyway.
