It seems like we have quite a few are taking advantage of the recent good price on OTP-PHX so I thought it might be a good idea to see if we could put together some ad-hoc meet-ups. I don't want to organise anything as it seems that we are all travelling on different dates and, in some cases different routes, but it would be a shame to be on the same flight or in the same lounge as another FTer, not know and not be able to share a beer and stories... if that is what you want. Of course, if you like to travel alone then that is great too.
So, if you want others to know about your travel plans and fancy saying hi to fellow FTers please post your details and I will add you to the wiki. If you have wiki update access then please, by all means, update the wiki yourself
I am posting my hotel arrangements but if you would rather not do that yourself but wish to post your flights then that is also perfectly fine.
For those that want to read about the Aug 2018 PHX mini-do (quite a few did it!) it is here : https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...ug-2018-a.html
There are some links at the end of the wiki to interesting things to do around Phoenix. Please feel free to add to this list if you wish

For the boneyard tour, don't forget to apply in advance and also take your passport on the day.
https://trytn.com/PimaAirandSpaceMus...oduct=activity
The docents checked passports and made sure you were 'pre-booked' before allowing you onto the bus that takes you from the air museum to the boneyard.
Then at the military base entrance it was off the bus for another passport/identity check (the boneyard is within the active military base).
Then back on the bus for the boneyard tour. You are not allowed off the bus in the boneyard, but it does drive around very slowly and stops often, so you can take photos through the bus windows.
For the Titan Museum, I would get there as early as possible and book your tour straight away. The tours are restricted to groups of about 20 people on a first come/first served basis. When we were leaving about 12.00 noon, the people just arriving were having to wait a good couple of hours for their tour. There is not that much to do whilst waiting for your tour, other than wander around the site/gift shop, which takes all of 10 minutes! The interesting part is the actual 'tour'.
Both the air museum/boneyard and Titan Missile museum were both very interesting and well worth a visit.

Not really doing a tier points run, I am going to Phoenix for a relative's birthday do.
When I tried to book it many moons ago on the Defence Discount link, it wouldn't give me the discount off a MAN-LHR-PHX-LHR-MAN itinerary. So I rang the BA call centre and the very pleasant young lady there found it was even cheaper at that time to go via PHL. So, not being in any rush, I went along with it.
She did say it was a popular route for people collecting Avios and tier points.

Hi there Gastrocnemius - we'll be row partners then as I should be (the probably tired old git) in 1A. Will you be positioning for a PHX trip then? Normally Mrs T grabs the window seat, but she drew the line at what is effectively a weekend trip to Tucson!

Ahh, God's own country (born in Yorkshire, but I've spent the last 30 years in Northumberland). We'll probably be able to swap stories of Az temperatures and afternoon rainstorms then - just need to find out who's in 1C!

Unfortunately I missed this for this year. I'm probably a bit ahead of myself but any indication that this fare might be repeated next year?
