It seems like we have quite a few are taking advantage of the recent good price on OTP-PHX so I thought it might be a good idea to see if we could put together some ad-hoc meet-ups. I don't want to organise anything as it seems that we are all travelling on different dates and, in some cases different routes, but it would be a shame to be on the same flight or in the same lounge as another FTer, not know and not be able to share a beer and stories... if that is what you want. Of course, if you like to travel alone then that is great too.

As there seem to be a few of us taking advantage of the great OTP-PHX prices for April 2019 I thought it would be good if we had our own thread (thanks for the suggestion @madfish) and so perhaps we might meet up on the way?

Enjoy. Would love to join you but I’m just back from MIA and then off again at beginning of May. Think my OH would kill me! But I may sneak a quick visit to T5 in around that time.
Which Ramada is that one @snaxmuppet? I stayed in one last Easter. It was fine but I much preferred the Hilton. Uber’s were fairly cheap so didn’t make much difference with the extra distance.

I’d get murdered by the OH if I disappeared over Easter weekend! Her hen do is 12 Apr so I can justifiably go then, however or perhaps the end Mar run. Mine would literally be a there and back, unlike @snaxmuppet.

I am staying 3 nights for no other reason than I can. I haven't got anything in particular I want to do in Phoenix but I am getting a car so I will enjoy just driving around the local area and getting out into the one or two of the national parks or getting into the mountains.
I booked my hotels through booking.com as they are all cancellable and I use the ratings there and on Tripadvisor to determine if I want to stay there so it looks like the Ramade Plaza is pretty good from what I can tell. Not the cheapest but not too bad at about 90 per night as it has some nice spa and gym facilities which I will definitely use.

FYI, the last OW lounge at LAX closes at 00:30 and the first opening is at 04:30 so you would have ~4 hours of that 5:17 layover without a lounge (assuming you're referring to waiting in one of the AA/OW lounges).

but at least at that time there won't be too many people around I would imagine. All I need is a place to bunker down until the lounge opens at 4am so not so bad IMO. The main benefit of the lounge for me is less people and easy access to refreshment but in the middle of the night I probably won't be bothered about either of those things tbh. I'll let you know
