Somewhat odd day yesterday - I was on a cash Y ticket, had a nice lunch in the CCR with a few fellow travellers. Got an upgrade (actually to the infamous 15K) so was pretty pleased with that, went to the gate and was just on the point of boarding when the delays were announced. So we all decamped to B gates lounge until cancellation, then called various phone lines and went back to the CCR to wait for the confirmation of bookings. I opted for the morning rotation and was eventually ticketed, and went to the Sofitel on the advice of the GGL, and kept receipts.
Woke up at stupid o'clock, went to the CCR for breakfast and found it was now a 777 and showing over an hour late. So I went to the desk to try to get a cancellation, which I did, but unfortunately no refund as I'd already rebooked. And went home.
So all in all,I'm down £30 non-refundable parking, £84 flight and petrol too and from, offset by whatever I can get from EC261. I'm assuming that two flights cancelled (there and back) means two EC261 payments but as it's on one ticket I'm not sure what happens there. Anyone got any ideas?
Have also pleaded my case for a refund with the GGL, though not hopeful. In retrospect I should have cancelled there and then and gone home, but such is life.
Sad end to what was otherwise a nice day - sadly as I was intending to drive home that evening I wasn't able to drink much, so ended up quite subdued and tired. Just weighing up whether to try again next week, but probably won't.
