Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Can anyone recommend a route? I’ve got AA service recovery vouchers worth $200 to help pay for this.
It is quite some time since I did any of these but there used to be lots of opportunities for easy if not particularly lucrative runs around Texas routing through DFW. Have a look at HOU/IAD to CCP, OKC, SAT & AUS. I just had a quick look at OKC around your dates and saw out and return in domestic F so 160 TP's for £380. Not earth shattering but easily done in a day with no overnight costs to take into account.

Thanks for the info, I’ll check them out.

Best I’ve seen so far is probably IAH-DFW-CLT-ATL-CLT-DFW-IAH for £350ish which should be 240 TPs.

Anything better available?

Thanks for the heads up! I've reached out to teledude.

From reading it seems that going transit at CGK is a possible approach but you must have printed boarding passes for the return. Checkin at CGK closes before the incoming flight even arrives. I wonder if DXB or CMB can print the return passes ahead of travelling?

I'm perhaps too used to itineraries in the US, where AA can print off seemingly ALL sector passes in one go.

Little unlucky as most Malaysian airports deposit you into the gate area as you disembark, but good to know if I do a TP run there, glad you made it!

Very busy little airport - the problem seemed to be that people arrive too early - combined with the less than punctual operations of Malaysian carriers it can get pretty crowded as there is very little waiting space
Globalist likes this.

Has anyone done this trip as a back-to-back? Or can advise on viability of arriving into Jakarta and turning around. I have arrived into Jakarta previously and seemed straightforward for immigration/emigration.

Thanks.
I did this twice, on both occasions they got someone at the door of the aircraft to put me through a door straight into the waiting area for boarding then went and printed out a boarding pass and brought it over to me. I'd do it again with the caveat that you wont make it unless you tell the FA what you need to do, have your onward flight details in the BA app to show them or screen shot as they struggled to realise quite what I was trying to accomplish.

Thanks Wonderman - very useful. I read your TR so wanted to confirm - was the situation where you did the above were you doing B2B on same ticket? Or were they separate itineraries?

You cant do a b2b on one ticket is you violate both the Min Stay of the fare rules and also the MCT it needs to be two separate bookings. Too risky for me, I would do an overnight. Can't rely on getting someone as helpful as @wonderman got

I have a day in New York in May and looking to do a short hop consisting of 3/4 sectors. Any suggestions as starting points to look at? Ideally would like to leave around 6-8am and be back by 2pm.

Depending the connection timings and if there is any dates earlier than August bank holiday, I could be interested.

Good evening everyone
I need some ideas for 120 or 160 TPs collected on at least 3 BA segments, departing BSL, ZRH, GVA or FDH. Return must be to ZRH. I can do 2 trips on separate nights (for example 2 x ZRH-LHR-ZRH) but I that would have to be late night departure and first flight back to Zurich as I have work all day, but the best would be to leave on the 25th October evening and return on the 26th before lunch.
Any genius plan earns 100 USD through paypal
I don't really care about the price for the tickets.
Timeframe: 24 Oct - 27 Oct as I am departing to the US on the 28 from ZRH
Thanks for any input!!! Highly appreciated

For 120 TPs and 3 BA+IB segments fitting your preferred schedule of leaving 25th evening and coming back 26th noon (overnight in MAD), could try this at ~$925. But might not be able to book it online:
https://www.google.com/flights#flt=Z...00*.USD.115571

Alternatively, an economical option at $485 for 160 TPs on 4 BA+IB segments but which uses up your whole 26th:

Most convenient is probably Glasgow for 160 TP and 704 GBP, you'd depart on 18:50 on the 25th, take the BA 717, BA 1498, BA 1493, overnight in LHR, then back with the BA 710 to ZRH which arrived the 26th at 09:25.

https://www.google.com/flights#flt=Z...313*.GBP.70313

Hope this helps!

As I'm free next week I was looking if doing a DXB-CMB-CGK trip was doable and get me closer to the points I need before my year end - I'm needing 800TP, so Sir Lankan itinerary would do nicely to help. At this short notice, there is no option for a quick return at the ~£600 fare, not that I have an urgency for that and my idea was to see Indonesia (last time I was in the country was 17 years ago), never been to Jakarta, I'm sure a night or two would be enough, so looking for good ex-CGK ideas, TP earning all the better, but only J is they are good value.
Idea's I have had so far are head to Singapore as an easy backup plan (free accommodation for me, but I was only there 3 weeks ago), Bangkok with MH for somewhere more interesting than Jakarta, or even to Melbourne to see family and friends, but via SYD or SIN is two 12+ hour to get there for only 2 or 3 nights I'm thinking it will be too rushed.

Any tips and advice are greatly appreciated.
