Amazing thread. £8000 for a bag that you need to put into another bag to protect it from bangs, scratches, liquids. Kind of defeats the purpose methinks. Anyway each to their own.
Good luck to the OP with regards claiming back the costs.

At least I now know my £35 bag from Tesco is fully covered should anyone spill vintage champagne on it

I'm happy I know what a Birkin bag is now. It really is quite beautiful!
Interesting thread, I've certainly learned a few things so well done all for contributing ^

Ironically I actually think Hermès bags are pretty discreet as they are almost without exception logo free aside from a blind stamp. The crew weren't familiar with the brand as an example.

After reading this post I feel like loitering outside the First Wing to try and spot the OP. Someone travelling low-key with Birkin and a legion of LV luggage in tow :-)

I'm just making sure MrsNWIFlyer never, ever sees this thread ... .
This might, however, explain why the man in the luggage room rather looked down on my £55 Samsonite carry-on when last I left it there when in the F lounge ... I've felt at times reading this thread that I live in a parallel universe to many .

Not sure I could pull off a Birkin personally They're beautiful but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the view they're unisex yet. It was a family member's bag ^

Case in point, there's a pair of used Louboutin shoes on eBay for £50 more that I paid for the same pair brand new 9 years ago. Similarly there are used Birkins on eBay for around £8k. I can't think of many items that would hold their value in that way, so it pays to take care of them!
So if you can afford it, why not?! hope your Birkin is repaired, OP!
