An educated guess here since I can't hear their telephone conversations except for snippets, but it seems to be the back office who are moving people around for a flight, especially if a cabin is oversold. So check-in needs to know if a seat is still available or if back office needs it to operationally upgrade/downgrade pax into that seat.
Actually, could one of our resident experts explain who they phone and/or what they are checking? In both AUPs I've done at T5, the (very helpful) agent could give me a price upfront, but didn't process it or swipe my card until she'd called someone and confirmed it could be sold.

Can´t seem to find any mention of LHR-BUD ET to CE. Is there any indication? I know the POUG for that route is 149 GBP.

Is this the norm in GF Lounge ?
I was trying to do an AUP from LHR - GLA on Thu 14th Dec around 7.30pm in the GF Lounge at Ter 5, I
was informed that there is nobody in the GF lounge (or at the entrance) who can do this ie no ticketing agent ?
I was sent upstairs to the Galleries lounge where both of the agents there could do it ie they were both ticketing agents
and it was issued in 2 mins, so no big deal.
Was this a staff shortage in GF lounge or do you always have to go to the Galleries lounge for an AUP if transferring at Ter 5 ?

Bits of minor news:
AUPs can now be processed all over LHR, so LHR T5 has joined up with T3 in allowing non ticketing staff to do AUPs. They do need to call FMU to get the seat released, but there is no need to go to (e.g.) Customer Service desk in South Galleries Club. All the Premium team can do these (so the ones with blue badges), and I suspect almost all the other ground staff at LHR T5 too, unless perhaps very new to the role.
NCL can do AUPs, not all staff can do it, so try to do it at check-in rather than relying on lounge staff, though some of them can do AUPs.
Looking for confirmation from someone: can LCY, which is Menzies, do AUPs? I know it can't be done airside.

AUP prices with other carriers
does anyone know of any other airlines (in any alliance) offers the same benefit as BA? Meaning if I pay for AUP to CW my tier points will be calculated as per the CW not the originally booked WT+
Is there any other airline that offers such thing? I know that KLM doesn’t and if you pay for AUP you’ll still end up with original mileage. Any answers will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

QF did it in certain airports, LHR and SIN but it's been some years I've asked this and would get the increased Avios/TPs.
